Brake Pad Question
Does anyone know if there's a difference in brake pad fitment, between the 2020 SS and the 2021 SS? I want to replace the pads on my 2021 because of the overly excessive brake dust. I want Akebono pads, as I had them on my 2015 and just loved the braking and low dust. However, Akebono doesn't offer the pads for the 2021 yet. I didn't know if I could just use the application of the 2020 for the 2021. Thanks!

Can't imagine the brake caliper being any different from a '20 to a '21 on a stock car, particularly with the same trim level, unless there were significate design changes with it.
One quick and easy way to find out...

Just go to any auto parts website and change model years while searching for pads

Let's put it this way...
Chevy can't sell the 2021 SS and ZL1 models in CA or WA because they never updated what they're using for brake pads and they no longer meet code. If they couldn't/didn't make a change that would allow them to SELL CARS, then they didn't make a change for any other reason. |

On topic, many here have used PowerStop Z26 pads with much success to practically eliminate brake dust, at the cost of some braking performance when driving the car hard.

I am sure more people here can chime in better but the dirty pads work very well. If you change them out make you you re-learn the stopping power of the new pads vs the OEM.
Go EAGLES! wait, they suck. |

Scotty Kilmer, the biggest Akebono pad proponent on youtube I thought you might have heeded his suggestion.

Grew up and still live in the Philly area. This should pretty much be the town motto. The super bowl year was deserved. But flukes are called flukes for a reason.
Anyway, I second the recommendation for z26's. You can get them from Amazon in sizes for 2018 and 2020 and return for free the ones that don't fit. I haven't searched to even see if they'll come up with different numbers. I think these stop better than the stock semi-metallics in everyday driving. I think the stock pads are a track pad. |

Rock Auto carries the PowerStop, and usually have a pretty low price on them.

I have a set of Z26 PowerStop pads for a 2017 SS with about 1000 miles on them I will sell. I replaced them with Z23 pads. The Z26 would squeal when cold backing out of my garage and it bugged me.
