Anybody go from 3r to 3?
Need new tires and was wondering if anybody swapped from the supercar 3r to the 3 on their 1le?
I know it'll sacrifice some grip but would like a little more longevity. I'm not chasing lap times. Let me know your experiences, thanks |

On the track the 3R is much faster, and shorter life. While I haven’t personally tracked them, I don’t think the 3 will last all that much longer than the 3R with track use either. Maybe an extra track day depending on driving style???? |

Thanks guys, I should have clarified. Mostly back road, twisty mountain driving with the occasional track day. Hopefully 3 track days this year. Not a daily driver, if I won't get much more life than the 3r's ill stick with them. Love the 3r's and def need to get them up to temp before you get on them. This would be my 3rd set and I'm at 11k miles. I think that's really pushing them because the rears seam to be heat cycled but I haven't done any track days yet either

Appreciate this info, as I'm a noob to the track. I'm sure the tire difference won't matter too much as the driver mod will be the biggest factor. If I can double the life to say maybe 8-10k miles I would be ok with that if its only a 2-4 sec difference on a track that size.

I will be switching to the non-R's on my 1LE in the spring. The R's are only really great on track, but they contribute a lot to the rough ride on the street, wear out fast, and do only get grippy once pretty warm. The 3's do awesome on track, I had a SS 1LE before and loved them, and they're also damn good on the street.

I bought some used 3r's to go on the arc 8, 19" wheels for my regular ZL1, but when I read how quickly they wear compared to the standard gy3 and knowing I'd be making a 350 mile round trip on the 3-5 roadcourse excursions per year and having a guy that is much faster then me tell me he has to run the regular gy3's in the class he runs I opted to sell the r's and get the regular 3's.
Several guys saying the street miles are as much as 12,000 vs 3000 for the r's. |

3's have much better street manners compared to a 3R. You will be pleased with the swap for street use. As a track tire, the 3R is definitely better.

Tl;drI am hesitant to spend the $$ on 3r’s after reading a few of these threads but not sure where the limits are on the normal GY3 at MSR’s 3.1 configuration. I have a hard time trusting them |
