Primary cat delete sound?

I'd like to install some primary cat delete pipes on my SS. How much louder does it get when the secondaries and NPP muffler are still in place? I usually love the raspier, more exotic sound you get with a cat delete, so these look interesting to me.

I'd start with deleting the secondary cats and an exhaust if you can swing it, and see how you like it.

I would love to know this answer and see videos. Not many videos out their with that setup. Most of the setups are with cam or a lot of other mods. I have some CA Primary cat deletes that I'm waiting to install on my girlfriend car and get tuned when her warranty is up. We are wanting more volume. Was thinking of the secondary cat delete but I don't think that's going to increase it much with the stock system. So Primary cat delete it's going to be plus install price will be a lot cheaper than header install price.

Deleting the secondaries requires cutting the exhaust. Aftermarket mufflers that work with NPP start at $1200 and also require cutting. Primary cat delete pipes are about $400 and a tune is $500, so you're all in for about $900. It's also completely reversible and I can sell the pipes when I'm done with the car. All of this makes it a much more attractive option, IMO.

If it were me, and I was going to delete the cats, I would just go ahead with Long Tubes and off road pipes.

It also voids the warranty.

It makes the sound significantly louder. Keeping the secondaries in place help tame it down some. The factory cat pipes are the main bottle neck in the exhaust system.

Here is a vid of the car when I had bolt-on primary cat deletes retaining the secondary cats and stock NPP.

word. IMO the car sounds and runs the best with primary cats. I modified my stock ones. For headers, one of my best mods, was to add cats to the headers. I have an M6, the autos seem to function / sound better with primary cat deletes. Mine sounded like hollow cans banging around...

My car barely has any PT warranty left. I don't really care at this point.

King what all mods did you have that at that point when you shot this video? I found some well have the CA primary cat deletes just waiting about almost 4 years for the Powertrain warranty to be up on my girlfriends car. lmao

It was stock still on the paper tags lol. I ended up selling them because the car ran better with the cats on the stock tune. Once I did bolt-ons and E85, I picked up a set of CA performance pipes and have been running them ever since. They work great with proper tuning.
