Thanks for sharing your VIN number GreenZ

Congrats... welcome to the list buddy

Lucky you... living in Florida, you've been able to use your car for probably awhile now.

My ZL1 was delivered in January... and its still in winter storage!

I should take it out of storage in beginning of May... the city should have finished cleaning the streets by then.

Take care and enjoy your Camaro

Andrew

Hi Crush 1970... i'm glad to hear your also a Canadian citizen. I'm located in Quebec... i live next to montreal, so hi neighbor!

I hope your able to use your wonderful car these days.

I noticed its a 6-speed... very rare. I can tell that you must be a purist that enjoys the full engagement and feeling of the traditional way of shifting gears. I share that preference.

Take care neighbor

Andrew

Has anybody got a response from GM yet about how many cars were made with the performance shop placard engines? And why did they use those engines?

Wow! Beautiful car & set-up 363mp Love what you did with your garage floor to match with your amazing ZL1. Good job buddy.

As for your earlier question... i contacted someone at the GM Heritage Center seeking info on the current 2020 Camaro ZL1's having Hand-built plaqued engines from the PBC in Kentucky.

The response i received from them left me hungry for even more info, as i felt that the response was too short and sweet to my liking.

Here's what i got... it seems that possibly all future Camaro ZL1's will have these Hand-built PBC engines in the future.

I will try to find and attach the response i got from them to show you.

If anyone else has any info to confirm this please feel free to contribute please.

Take care guys!

Andrew

What i'm trying to say is... the ZL1 cars having been built early on in the 2020 production year or low VIN numbers cars if you prefer are very few having the "hand-built plaqued LT4's"
i'm sure that i had seen somewhere a low VIN number ZL1 somewhere in the 900 range having an engine builder plaque... but that was before i started gathering info and writing it down. So... i cannot confirm this anymore, sorry about that.

The info i have so far , is a ZL1 with VIN number L01-03032 that has a plaque, car is in Ontario Canada, a white A10 convertible at Finch Chevrolet dealer.

After and before that... very few ZL1 cars have the plaque. Why?...i don't know.

The plaqued-engine ZL1's are more frequent starting around VIN numbers 11000 and up.

Even around the 11000 VIN number range i've most cars not having a plaqued as to cars that had one. But i cannot give you a percentage.

If only i had acces to more info and proof to confirm the info, i would be able to get you precise numbers and percentages.

On the internet... anyone can say just about anything and people will believe... but i'm not like that. I like facts...and good pictures to back those facts. I do the best i can with what i get.

Even if i take interest in these "hand-built LT4 ZL1's" that exist... it doesn't mean i do not like all the others or find them to be of lesser quality.

As someone said in an earlier post... and i agree , that ALL the engines produced by GM at which-ever production plant all follow the same strict guidelines and specs during assembly with check-points along the way to ensure optimum performance and reliability. Same rules for all.

So we're all created equal

Its just fun to have something that's unusual. Its like my other Camaro, its a 2002 SS with an LS1... but it has an LS6 block casting from the factory which is also rare. Its still basically an LS1 because engine all internals and the engine heads are LS1.

Anyway, take care

Andrew
Great investigation... we could suppose this is thé différence of production plant or maybe the order date ....that gives thé différence between plaqued and non plaqued ...
mine is from canada 2019 but i can’ot tell you if it is or no... i think it’s not... but I’ll know soon when It will be delivered
Vin is nearly 160000

Well... about the list , i was taking note of the 2020 ZL1's being produced with the PBC LT4 engines that had an engine builder plaque on them... but i have stopped doing so after the response i got from GM.

At first i thought the 2020 Camaro ZL1's that had these plaqued engines were somewhat uncommon and that they were to be rare... and that they could possibly have more value in the future. I first thought that it could have been caused by a supply issue caused by the strike, and that C7 Corvette Z06's were no longer being produced and that the Corvette plant had LT4 engine surplus... but that does not apply because the LT4's in Camaro's are different wet sump variants. Hence the mystery...

So... I wrote a letter to GM asking info on why some 2020 Camaro ZL1's had the ''engine builder plaque'' on them and that others did not..., and it seems that ALL the future Camaro ZL1's will have these hand-built ''plaqued'' engines from bowling green PBC.

The answer as to why not all 2020 have these ''plaqued'' engines from the PBC is because the Lansing Michigan assembly plant was depleteing what was left in they're inventory of non-plaqued LT4's.

Hope this answers your question mlee

take care buddy
