Anyone tried the Hoosier R7's?

I was hoping we would have someone try the Hoosier R7's to run the quarter mile. I think they are more for street racing, but figure it might be a good option instead of DR's or the Toyo R888R's.

The R7s are a road course tire. The construction is not built for drag racing. The carcass is also not designed for public road use even though it is DOT legal.

The Hoosier R7 is really a dedicated road course tire. Not only would it take a long time to get the tread up to optimal temps, but the sidewalls are stiff. This is definitely not the tire for you.

What sizes are you looking for? The R888R has pretty good straight line traction for a track tire, but if you're looking for the best quarter mile performance out of a "street" tire, then the Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S is your best bet for the 19-20" diameter options.

Thanks Cory. That's kind of what I was thinking too. The issue is pretty simple, I am running 285/30's on front and 305/30's on rear. If I go with the 305/35's on rear, then I have to go to a taller tire on front also.

I hate getting new tires when I probably have 2000 miles on my tires. . .so, ideally, I could have found a good 305/30 tire. . .but I think the best choice will be to swap all 285/35's and 305/35's (I haven't relocated my wiring harness, but it's no problem to get it done).
