*Brand New* 2018 ZL1 - Clicking noise - help
I just bought a 2018 ZL1 last Saturday. During the test drive a noticed a faint clicking noise while driving. I asked the sales person what that noise could be and she said it was probably the license plate holder. Which at the time made sense. Maybe it wasn't on there tightly. Fast forward 3 days. I put the back seat down to put my golf clubs in. Now I can hear the ticking noise clear as day.
Dealership came to get the car and dropped of a loaner while they troubleshot the problem. I get a phone call yesterday saying they can't duplicate the discrepancy. Seeing as I know I'm not crazy I drive up to the dealership, wasting a day off, only to find out the clicking noise is still very much there. The service department is stumped at the moment as to what could be the cause of said noise. I've posted a video of the noise down below. It seems to be coming from the rear right of the car only when the car is in motion. It's most noticeable at around 35 mph. I don't know a whole lot about cars. So any help would be appreciated. Man this sucks I hope you figure out what it is. I just bought my zl1 2 weeks ago and haven't had any issues yet (knocks on wood)

Stupid question - did you check the tires for rocks, nails etc?

The frequency seems to vary with your speed. As far as I can tell doesn't sound like it varies with engine rpms. Does the sound change with different surfaces eg asphalt vs concrete?

I agree. It varies with speed. I don't notice a difference on either surface.

It almost sounds like a rock in the brake backing plate, or something in the tire. It’s definitely a rotational noise. Really shouldn’t be too hard to track down.

I get a clicking sound from the front driver's side wheel but only during a hard corner. From what I've seen a few ZL1s had this issue and it was due to dust and grime on the wheels. A few people pulled the wheel and cleaned it really good (wheel, rotors, pads), and the noise went away. With others it remained. And with some others the noise came back. It wasn't anything major so I don't mind the noise. Maybe that is what you're hearing. If so I wouldn't worry about it. Try taking the wheels off tho and look to see what's going on.

Have them make sure the wheels are torqued to spec. It may be something as simple as this.

Sure sounds like rocks in the tire, but could be a wheel weight hitting the caliper, or this:

Sounds tinny like dust shield touching the rotor.

Ive had this twice! There is a TSB for it, its basically debris in the wheel thats clicking. They have to remove the wheel and do whatever it is they do. But both times it solved the clicking noise.
