Pretty sure mishimoto did a video with dyno stock cut off, also replaced with round stock gain was zero hp

I'm more curious about the sound vs power, there is one member here who did this and found the change in sound to be better?

I noticed this over the weekend, and was wondering the exact same thing. Any reason why Chevy does that?

All I've read is that it is there to accommodate additional bracing installed on convertibles.

Anyone know why the eliminators fit manual only? They have some dyno numbers on a SS too.

Great video. So what we can gain from this???? Adding headers will make NO power (so they are a waste). So all the dyno we have from independent shops that say they make power are lies. Decreasing flow makes no difference so conversely increasing flow makes no difference. This is what is trying to be conveyed by all the people that agree with the crush pipe making no difference.
So if we take this video and take the 3" outlet of the headers and put them in a press and crush them down to a 1/2" opening by 4" or 5" wide (whatever a 3" round pipe ends up being after crushed to a 1/2" high opening). Or even further crush it completely closed. We wont lose any power either??????? This is quite a puzzling experiment, but really defies all the laws or fluid dynamics. The premise of exhaust vendors for 20+ years, has been to minimize restriction. Crushing pipes is a source of restriction. If removing crushed sections of pipe truly makes no additional flow or power, then we have all be fouled by conspiracy by the exhaust system manufacturers. The person in this post that says an exhaust will only flow the amount equal to the highest restriction is correct. This would be the bottle neck in the factory exhaust from a flow standpoint.
