Cat back vs axle back

I'm looking to get an exhaust system for my 16 2SS NPP. I'm going to go with Stainless Works, still deciding between the Redline or Legend, but not sure whether or not to go axle back or cat back. Is the cat back going to require a tune or can I get away without? Is the cat back louder and just how much. I want it to be about the same sound level as the stock NPP exhaust in track setting when the new system is in the quiet settings.

The NPP valves open is pretty much open exhaust from the cats backwards. So if you have cats pretty much all exhaust systems are going to be as loud or quieter than NPP open. They may sound different but not louder.
Remove the rear cats but keep the front ones and it will be louder and wont require a tune.
Fitment is really the only difference between axle back and cat back.

Here is my car, long tubes, no cats, NPP with valves open, for a reference

Right now I'm happy with how loud the car is in track mode for daily driving but wouldn't mind the car being that loud in touring/stealth and being able for it to be louder in track mode.

It would be interesting to just remove the cats and see how loud it is with the valves shut vs open.
I guess technically i could do that with mine, but i don't have actuators on the valves.

I'm not even sure just how loud the car is right now from the outside. Inside is more than tolerable for daily use in track mode, at least for me.

That's the same thing i was concerned about. I feel my car is pretty normal, but my buddy was out following me in his WS6 and said my car is loud AF.

Here is the redline series, headers/hi-flow cats stainless works system. Sounds amazing to me and great volume.
