Not driving enough? Wth
Have a ‘23 SS vert with 2700 miles on it that I got 2 years ago exactly. Starting to play the find the issue of ‘why it doesn’t start after it gets hot’, but starts after about 15 minutes of sitting’ game with my local dealership once again. Foreman now telling me that I don’t drive it enough. Is this guy just a dumbass or is there something to that? In all of my fifty or so years tinkering with cars, Ive never heard something like this.

i have 2300 on my 18 zl1 1le and do not have that issue

I have approximately 1800 miles on my 2018 Hot Wheels 2SS, and never have any issues like yours. It sounds like they’re lost, and trying to pass the buck on figuring it out for you. Best of luck on this!

My son had the same problem with his Traverse. Turned out to be a starter with heat problems and the problem was completely solved with a new starter.

Yep, the dealership is trying to deny its heat soaking issues last year. The only way they would look at the issue is if it could be replicated at the dealership “per GM”. Took there five times and couldn’t replicate , sixth time finally didn’t start at the dealership. They changed the battery after having my car for two days. That’s why I mentioned about having to play their game again.

It’s not a slow crank, all I hear is a relay click under the hood and nothing.

Starter issue like posted already. These cars are notorious for hot start problems. Adding the ground cable will help for sure. In some cases the slow crank over time damages the starter due to excessive amperage draw. My suggestion would be replace the starter and add an additional ground strap/wire from the engine to chassis. Some guys add the wire on the front area of the engine like already described. Others, including myself, added the wire from the bell housing area near the starter to an existing ground stud above and to the passenger side of the transmission under the car.

With regard to adding an additional ground, I'd always add it in a place that others have already done without issue. I know the Silverado's have issues with certain sensors NOT reading voltage properly when people have added grounds in the wrongs spots. I guess some factory grounds will actually ground THROUGH a sensor. A new ground provides a new path for electricity to flow though. LOTS of people on the truck forums will tell you BETTER grounds not MORE grounds.
Not sure if that's a Camaro thing, BUT....can't hurt to be mindful of that. |

"don’t drive it enough" Sounds like he's just making fun of the situation because of the low miles you have. So yeah, it's stupid.
I didn't realize the newer cars had this issue with the starter. I thought that was the older 6gens. If that was my car, I would be adding a ground wire just like the other dudes have had to do. If that fixes it then great. If not, I would look to see if powermaster makes an LT1 starter. No starting issues yet (knock on wood) on my 22 with 10-11k miles on it.
