Advice on making your SS louder and what Exhaust to get

Ive been swapping out my exhaust quite a bit and theres a few things I learned. Note I got headers before I changed anything else.

If you have Long tube headers that's the biggest jump in sound you can get. Everything you do after that can change the tone but I wouldn't expect things to get much louder unless you do full muffler delete.

Stock NPP is your best bet if you plan on keeping the valves. I went with Flowmaster American thunders at first and the tone was deeper but it wasnt a big difference volume wise. Im guessing Corsa and Borla or anything with mufflers are similar in the aspect that they only really change the tone not the volume. So unless you plan on getting an exhaust with no muffler or just want an exhaust for looks or your car didn't come with NPP, id stay with the stock NPP.

I ended up getting MBRP Race Axle-backs and Im super happy with them. I have Heads, Cam, and Headers. Super loud when WOT or Parked (thanks to the cam) but still very polite when cruising.

Ill post a sound clip when I get the chance

I was thinking of the Stainless works redline Axle back and maybe keeping the rest stock for now. But, if there’s not much sound change, idk……

Yeah if you upgrade to them for better looks or a tone you'll get what you want but barely noticeable if actual decibel difference is what you're after, especially if you have headers.

I had catless long tubes with a full straight pipe for a while, and it sounded good at WOT but not that great at part throttle. It was pretty loud too. I then went back to the stock npp muffler and to me it was super quiet. So then I got the stainless works axleback (not sure which version, i got it second hand), and it is the perfect in between.

Valves closed on my current setup is a little louder than valves open on the setup with long tubes and stock npp. and valves open is around 30-40% quieter than a straight pipe from what I can tell.

Long tubes + Stainless works axleback is perfect to me.

I have the Corsa NPP axlebacks. They are slightly louder than stock with more deeper tone. If i ever go headers in the future, i will put the Borla 60608 resonator in the mid pipe to town down the rasp and drone due to headers. It also helps to minimize false knock and timing pull related issues. My old mustang had a similar borla resonator and it made a night and day difference. That is my advice to anyone going for headers.

I looked at the AWE Track edition by the pictures its nothing more than a glorified muffler delete with pretty tubing.

Same here. I installed this to hold me over until I get a full exhaust setup. I’ll most likely put some kind of mufflers back there after headers.

My car is a non-NPP car so my glorified muffler delete was $495 shipped to my door. Less pretty piping = less money

I got a used MBRP axle back and I love it. Probably the best $300 I've ever spent.

I have the Stainless redline axle back, w NPP vales. The rest is stock. Idol was a tiny bit louder but other than that, I'm sad to report, I wasted $1500 bucks. To the OP's point, I too learned the lesson that the Stock exhaust was best when coupled with headers. I learned this lesson with my 5th gen. After getting my 2021, I did not like the looks of the stock "suit case" muffler and hoped it would be different this time and splurged for the Stainless system. So yeah, once my power train warranty is up, i'll get headers and hope the redline mufflers come to life.

+1 on the mbrp, Personally I would have gotten a MBRP catback but the axleback was already on the car. But I would say my car is a solid 7 out of 10 for sound. I get compliments on it, sometimes scares small children and overall decent sounding. Not an earth shaker, but it does pop good
