Modifying Driving Modes

Sorry if this has already been discussed, I searched for this but didn't find a post.

Does anyone know if its possible to modify the pre-set driving modes? I have my car set with the custom mode that Chevy allows you in sport mode for the suspension and track for the exhaust. What I would like to do is modify the pre-set so I would be able to set the exhaust to stealth mode faster by just selecting something like touring mode. I have a couple cops in my area that get a real hard on for exhaust and it would be really convenient to be able to just hit touring on the selector mode and quiet up for a min or 2 while your driving by.

I don't like to leave the car in track mode all the time because I prefer the throttle response in sport better for how I like to drive the car but want the exhaust as loud as possible 99.9% of the time.

I've gotten pretty quick going through the menu but if possible I would love to be able to use the selector switch.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I believe putting the selector switch in snow/ice mode will put the exhaust in stealth mode. Otherwise you have Tour which would be the most conservative while still having the exhaust valves somewhat open.

Throttle mapping is soley controlled by the selector switch, so when you switch modes to snow/ice or Touring, you'll get a less aggressive throttle response.

you can install a toggle switch for the NPP fuse. Leave it in the stealth mode

Maybe I misunderstood what you modified.

My understanding is you can modify the vehicle start up for suspension and exhaust at a minimum, if not other things.

I wish you could cold start in stealth mode… leaving the house early morning for a track day always runs the risk of waking the kids

I didn’t know that stealth mode was active in snow/ice PTM. I’ll try that next time I’m in car. . It would also be nice to select the PTM and then crank the engine.

You cannot change individual aspects within each mode, you can only change things separately when using the menu on the radio.

You can, however, use hptuner to determine what the exhaust is doing in the individual modes. You could copy/paste the stealth mode npp tables into the touring mode table and then touring mode will act like stealth mode with respect to exhaust. If you want, I can give you a more detailed guide. I use this method to make track mode open 100% of the time, since it normally closes in 5th and 6th below 4k rpm or something like that.

The only downside is you need and HPTuners MPVI 2 or 3, and it costs $150 to license the module that controls the exhaust.

You can start the car with the valves closed if you put the car in Key On Engine Off mode, then go into the radio screen and put the exhaust into stealth mode. This is the only way to do it with the OEM config.

However, with HPTuners you can adjust this by licensing and editing the CCM. I commonly set Tour Mode to make the car start up with the valves closed. I then set Sport mode to keep the valves open until 6th gear instead of 4th(auto trans)(manual cars are slightly different). Then I set track mode to never close the valves. The OEM config still closes the valves in some gears in Track mode for both the 10 speed and 6 speed manual cars.

It's a common request that I get.

So to be clear, to do this, what hardware, software and tuner services would need to be purchased? HPTuning newb here.

You need an HPTuners MPVI 2 or MPVI 3 (this is the obdII interface)

The HPTuners VCM Suite (you will use VCM editor) free download from HPTuners site.

HPTuners universal credits to license the CCM ($50/credit, the CCM is the module that controls the active exhaust, and required 3 credits/$150 to be licensed).

I can make you a video guide on how to adjust the exhaust if you like.

This is exactly the info I was looking for, thank you!

Whoa guys- I haven't messed with mine in a bit, but you simply pull up the settings for each mode on the radio and change what the default individual settings (steering, NPP if applicable and exhaust). That becomes the default setting for each pre-set Track/sport/snow&ice etc..
You can then easily flip into that setting (like touring) to change to Stealth.
Even in Stealth mode the exhaust valves will open for a few seconds at start up. No other equipment needed IMHO.
