bouncing feeling when tires are cold?
So, I went to my first Cars and Coffee Saturday morning here in Columbus! It was pretty cool! I had a lot of compliments on my car and my mods! I left the my house around 8:30am when the temp was around 45°. When I got to speed on the freeway, my car literally feel like it was "bouncing". When I slowed down to exit the freeway and drove on a 35mph street, the bouncing feeling went away. But, when I left Cars and Coffee to head home. The temp was almost 60° and on the freeway, the ride seemed smooth and no bouncy feeling. Could that bouncy feeling been an issue of the cold temp and the Goodyear F1's being cold? Thanks !

I guess possibly... It just only happened the one time when it was really cold and tires were cold. That's what made me wonder if temps can cause it. I'm going to hit that same part of the freeway when it's warm and see if I feel the bouncing again. I guess it could be that section of road, our roads in Columbus SUCK! I was in track mode too, so that could have been part of the "extra" noticeable bad road conditions.

I don’t know if I’ve ever noticed the car being bouncier when it’s colder out. Traction is definitely an issue. I daily mine, and the past few months its been in the 40s and 50s here in the AM. I will say that several times I’ve hit a stretch of highway out here that looks smooth but it is actually not, and the ride is actually bouncy though those stretches. Could it have possibly just been the road? These things are pretty sensitive to any and all road imperfections.

I find that with a lot of low profile, high performance tires, you get some flat spotting on the tires when sitting for a few days, particularly in cold temps. Then it goes away as you drive and the tires warm up. I'll get that on my cars in cold temps, or even if they sit for a week while I am away in warm temps.

Flat spots feel like it's not bouncy is just a really rough ride. I've not seen it with SC3's. Roadway, cold tires as said these things are hard as a rock when their cold, track setting could have been it but I think you got your answer when you drove out and it was 60 and it rode fine.

OEM tire grip drops off quick below 60F and they are as hard as hockey pucks below 40F. So yeah OP was probably skip-sliding down the road like metal strap on roller skates on 20 year old asphalt.

The tire compound gets harder in that temp range. So less compliant. Could be what you are feeling.

Check pressures and you probably have flat spots in them and only shows up whent the tires are cold and go away when warmed up.

I've never felt any bounce in mine no matter the temps outside. I have felt flat spots from letting my car sit too long without driving it, but it feels more like a very minor out of balance and goes away after driving it for 5-10 miles.

Pressure is 35lbs in all four tires. Car is in garage, I will put my QuickJacks under it this evening and see if I have any flat spots. I'll make a curved template and check them 360° The car did sit mostly for a few tires with only one quick drive to make sure my new Carbo Wheel was installed at 0°. But have not driven it much at all. The garage does get cold unless I keep the split unit on. But I only do that when I know I'm going to be out there working etc.
