Shop PPF + DIY Ceramic Coating
So I got a quote for PPF which is the track package they offer. It was quoted at $2695 for bumper, front fenders, rocker panels, rear fender in front of rear wheel and the rear lower bumper. I might get them to knock off a bit for the hood as it has the satin finish with the 1le package. Is this a reasonable price?
I was then thinking of doing a DIY ceramic coating. They quoted me $980 for their "silver" package, includes entire car, wheels, calipers, glass, base coat and top coat. They would do any paint correction needed but with it being a new car, it should be minimal. This comes with a 7 year warranty, although I'm not sure what that would cover. And before I get all the hate about ceramic coating, I have done research, I am not looking to get the coating to ignore cleaning the car, I am looking for something to make the cleaning easier and to cut down on any clear coat damage during the cleaning. Should I try to get another quote? TIA for any responses or recommendations. |

Both look realistic to me, assuming they'll do proper, thorough paint correction.
I'd make sure the mirror caps and roof get covered, too, they will also be blasted (especially the mirrors), and having big rock chips on the front edge of the roof sucks.

The mirror caps are included, do you think the rear bumper is needed? I guess it's more the rear diffuser area around the exhaust tips. As of now there is no roof, but maybe I can take off the front hood as it's wrapped in satin, and the rear bumper and have them do the roof instead and keep the same cost.

My (unwrapped) rear bumper is still nearly pristine after almost 5 years, so I personally don't think it needs PPF that much.

Save the money and coat it yourself
That warranty is most likely only valid if you go back to them probably every 6months or less for a top up. Most likely a wash and a 10min spray sealant so they can keep collecting money from you and say the coating is still working Get a good coating DIY Detail Optimum gloss coat 10cc size Gtechniq CSL 30ml size all of them can be had for under $100. Get a rinseless wash https://diydetail.com/products/rinseless-wash Get the clay towel https://diydetail.com/collections/al...ade-clay-towel get and Iron remover Wash the car Spray down with iron remover and let it sit for a few mins and rinse Then make some clay lube with the rinseless wash and clay it with the towel. It will not induce scratches as long as enough lube is used and follow directions on its use. If the paint to you is in good shape and you dont feel it needs a polish then just go to coating it. Paint does not need polished to coat.

save the money also and do the paint enhancement yourself. Its not hard at all and doing that wouldnt really take much time.
You dont need fancy gear either. Harbor freight 21mm polisher is under $100 and will work just fine and get some decent pads and off to the races. I always say save the money and do it yourself. Its not hard and if you enjoy working on your car its just another thing to spend time with it. Mine is fully corrected and coated with Gtechniq CSL I have been doing this for 17years though. But its not hard and easy to pickup

If you decide to apply ceramic yourself, I recommend that you hone your skills on another low cost vehicle, or at least a few panels on said vehicle. This isn't trivial, even a pro can make mistakes that leave hazy spots that will then require careful followup (happened to one of my cars).
As to PPF or wrapping the car, there is no way an amateur can do the 6th gen Camaro bumper correctly, it's one of the more intriguing and complicated designs and thus more difficult jobs (as I was told by 2 different detailers). I would not venture into this without prior experience.

No one should ever go into doing a coating with the mindset that this is hard I am gonna mess up. No need to do it on another car to test. If you can apply wax you can do a coating. They are pretty forgiving in terms of installation and not hard at all. If you do have a high spot. It happens so take a towel and some polish and polish the spot for 30sec and put the coating back on there. Done in 30sec. The detail world wants you to think a coating is hard so they can quote you crazy prices. They are not hard and anyone who takes a little bit of time will have no issues. I have installed all of these on my cars over the years carpro Cquartz 3.0 Optimum Gloss coat Gtechniq CSL Gtechniq EXO V1,V2,V4 Gyone MOHS evo Gyeon Can coat EVO Diamond Protech Body None of them are hard or cause any issues. Out of all of them Gloss coat is by far the easiest and most user friendly

Okay guys, I'm glad you have so much confidence (seriously, I'm not being sarcastic here).
As a personal example, my garage was just brought into decent condition last year, and even now I don't have lighting that's anywhere near good enough for a professional quality ceramic job. Chances are I wouldn't even notice some high or missed spots with just a headlamp and handheld work light or garage light that I move around all the time. Other thing is dust, we have a ton of it here, my feeling is that even inside the garage there is just no way to force it to settle enough not to cause issues with a coating application. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but hey, this is a forum, we are here to exchange ideas and learn from each other, right?

dust doesnt ruin a coating. you can coat outdoors in the shade. you are not painting the car.
A headlamp would be plenty as long as you just gave the panels a good look over after each wipe off. I coat with my garage door open in the summer all the time. The only thing I do is watch the sun. as long as its not hitting the car I dont car about any light dust that might land on the car. its really not going to do anything. High spots are not the end of the world. If a shop is telling you that they are just trying to make you worried that you couldnt do it. If you get a high spot its hardly any effort to fix it. even if its days later. No one should be scared of coating a car. Maybe 10years or so ago when they were much less user friendly. Now they are really no harder than applying a wax

Thanks for all the input guys. I am leaning towards PPF done by a shop on the bumper, mirror caps, door handle cups, area in between door and rear wheel arch, roof, and possibly A-Pillars. I have done vinyl wraps before on easy panels, hood/doors so I may do the roof myself in PPF.
I will hold off on the ceramic coating for a bit of time and I will most likely do it myself. I really want to do the wheels and calipers as those are the biggest pain in the ass to keep clean.

if you wanna do wheels and calipers
get Diamond protech wheels. It has a temp rating up to 1500degrees. Its stupid easy when I did mine there was almost nothing to wipe off when i was doing it. was a very nice wheel coating and good on the calipers https://theragcompany.com/collection...ond-wheels-kit
