Info on Mobile 1 15w-50
I think after seeing this explanation of the additive package and the formulation being biased for GDI engines I might just leave it in rather than swapping for track days. Car is only driven on nice days or at the track so I think swapping to the 0-40 Dexos a waste of time most likely after seeing this. I also change my oil way to early and realize I’m wasting money but I feel better keeping clean oil in it.
For info only not to be an oil fight thread https://youtu.be/UQZzKjlu0iE

<deep sigh>
I'm not sure how you think stating that you aren't going to do what the manual tell you to do isn't going to lead to a fight. And it's about oil. Yeah. Folks gonna fight.

My 2015 Z06 with 50K miles on it has only had 15w50 oil used in it since new. I do live in a warm climate year round so I never go to any thinner oil - I run this oil in everything I own.

Mike's been talking to me about the 15-50 since we did the Maggie and toohighpsi Port Injection, I can't run that this winter because of the cold climate but will switch to that in the spring as temps will rise here in the Midwest. I'm currently running 5-40 Mobil 1. I did run 15-50 in my 16 SS after a couple of engine failures I had with the Lt1 and then the Forged Manley motor that broke the crank internally and killed all the bearing.

Here's the Corvette reason for not having 15w50 oil in a street driven car
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-road-use.html GM says the ZL1 LE needs it for the extra G force it produces so the engine doesn't starve from oil. Do what you'd like, it's your car. |

I caught Lake Jr's M1 0W40 European video and I commented about comparing that with the 0W40 ESP Dexos2, he replied that comparison is in the works.
Lol, oil posts/threads do get out of hand. Guys tend to overthink it. It is so simple for our cars. The manual couldn't lay it out any more simple. But thank you to Chippy for posting an informative link. More good data from a credible source is always a good thing.
