Pressure washer advice
I'd like to get an electric pressure washer and foam cannon for winter washes. The coin operated spray wash by me sucks. I'm looking for advice on something lower in price but has worked out for you. Also, are there any tips for use in winter? Thanks.

I bought a Sun Joe SPX3000 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) this summer to replace a Greenworks 1600 PSI washer. So far I'm very pleased with the Sun Joe. I did replace the supplied 20 ft pressure hose with a 25 ft replacement hose I used with the Greenworks. This allows me to reach around the entire car without having to constantly move the powerwasher.

I owned two of the Karcher units sold at Lowe’s they were relatively cheap. Both broke within a year. If I was going to do it over again, I would do one that used an air compressor… And get a foam cannon.

Make sure you take inside after you use it in the cold weather or the pump will freeze up and split.

That didn't faze me, though, I got myself another foamer unit for $20 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D9ZD18T) that comes with an additional, "low gpm friendly" orifice nozzle with a smaller diameter, I swapped that in and the washer now makes awesome, thick, sticky foam, just like the best ones you see on youtube. No winter tips from me, sorry, I put the Camaro to sleep for the season and wifey uses automatic car washes until spring.

Ive tried them all, and electric pressure washers are pretty much garbage. Ifyou understand that they are disposable, theyre all about the same. Gas pressure washers are more reliable. I like Generac brand.

Being a weekend warrior, I went electric. For 80 bucks (black friday) got an AR Annovi that is 185 msrp.
Works well for washing and foaming. Has lasted 2 years so far. I got the concrete cleaning circular attachment that saves a ton of time when cleaning my driveway. (Additional 20 bucks) Is it worth 185? Probably not. But at 80 bucks I do not mind that it's disposable. |

I have an old, small Karcher that gets the job done. I bought a Greenworks Foam Cannon attachment with the appropriate adapter for the Karcher and can't complain except that I may end up switching soap when using the canon (currently using the Meguiar's Shampoo and Conditioner which can be used in a canon but doesn't foam quite as much as I'd like).
I had also bought a Greenworks pressure washer when Amazon had some significant sale, but sent it back without opening it because the GPM on it was just too low. It would work ok with their foam canon, but it wouldn't properly drive most of the others out there as they wanted more GPM. BJ's recently ran a sale on SunJoe units with decent prices that were a bit lower than Amazon, but I never followed through because my Karcher continues to serve my needs. When it finally dies, I'll buy a new one. |

Whatever you get you want to make sure it has enough PSI to make decent foam with a foam cannon, or particularly the model of foam cannon you want. Reviews that are specific to the hardware configuration you're considering are even better.
I have a Ryobi 2000 psi electric and it works well, but for the ~$179 that costs, you can probably find better value out there. |

A 2nd vote for SunJoe. I have had my 3001 for 4 years now and coupled with the MTM Foam Lance, it's awesome for washings.
It's still running strong. I also use it to clean the sidewalk/driveway and our vinyl fencing. https://www.amazon.com/Sun-Joe-SPX30...ef_=ast_sto_dp However, when this one dies...I will be moving to the mid-range option on Obsessed's page. The AR Blue. https://www.obsessedgarage.com/colle...an-accessories

Thanks everyone! I'll see if there are any good deals on Prime day coming up. It sounds like a fairly inexpensive electric washer will work for my needs. My neighbors think I'm crazy for constantly detailing my cars, so they'll really flip out when I'm out there foaming them up LOL.

So what is a foam cannon supposed to do? My guess is its supposed to foam up the soap so it sticks better and that somehow makes it clean better?
One thing that I can't stand is that a pressure washer with 5hp can't remove some simple dirt on the surface that you can wipe your finger on, but it takes a rag or mitt and you have to physically wipe it off which takes probably 1/100 of a horsepower. |
