Slight mistake for key o~o
So I was going to do the install for my new throttle body but required the negative battery to be unplugged for at least 8 hours and leave trunk open. So I did and wanted to make sure my manual key worked to get inside my car.
Well, it did but I guess I put the cap on wrong and it does not wanna pull off nor does it wanna click in place. I plugged the battery back in and I can still enter and exit but I need to access my car if i do the install. Now my small question is how do I fix that mistake i made ^^;; |

Why do you have to leave the battery disconnect for 8 hours?

It was option C) but I cant get the cap to snap back in place or take it off. Considering I never did something like this, I didnt wanna mess up my car so I went with the safest option
Throttle body is from Soler Performance. |

I guess you'll have to pry it gently. Use something to protect the door and then pry it slowly. These plastic parts are strong,it should not break.

Here's what the back of the cover looks like. The extended piece on the left is the clip to keep it in place.
I see part of your cover is over the rubber gasket at an angle. It looks like yours is cocked sideways a little and that may be acting to lock it in place. If you pry from the bottom slot, that may lock it in further since it is already angled in that direction. Maybe you can twist it back straight first before trying to get it off. Hope this helps. |

Had this happen to me once
Took a helpful body shop employee at the dealership 30 minutes to figure out so don't feel bad. Above advice is good. My cover wound up scratched, repaired with touch up paint kit. Funny now but aggravating and humiliating at the time. When ready to reinstall follow instructions in owners manual in exact order. If memory serves me correctly we got it off, put it on wrong a second time, then read the manual. Easy to make this mistake 😉

The trick is to slide the cap on from the side while holding the door handle open. The GM engineer that came up with that procedure to reinstall the cap should be flogged!
