Cold air intakes
Hey everyone, BADPANDA here. I am new to this forum and recently got my 2016 Camaro. V6 Engine, still under warranty for quite some time so I am going to start small with mods as there is PLENTY of time to go. I want to start with the cold air intake. I know it doesn't do a whole lot, but it won't void warranty and I love the upgrade in sound. I do not want one that has a filter that uses oil. Do you have any suggestions or if someone is selling one please feel free to let me know!
Thanks in advance! |

GM sells a CAI thats manufactured by Cold Air Inductions. Im not sure if it will fit your V6 however. I called a handful of my local dealers inquiring about a CAI that would be warranty friendly for my 2019 ZL1. All the service managers I was able to get to come to the phone told me that the GM Performance intake would be the only brand that wouldnt void my warranty. Of course, I would have to buy the intake through the dealer, pay them to install it and there is also a tune that they flash to the computer as well. All the dealers I spoke too priced it out at around 500.00 give or take which IMO wasnt bad for dealer pricing. Long story short, when I asked them if the intake would work on my ZL1, I got varying answers. If you look the intake up on line, the GM PN# is only specd out to 2016 + SS models. So, that being said. I see all sorts of info that RotoFab and other manufacturers claim there CAIs wont void the GM Warranty ect. Personally, a few years ago I went through a emissions issue with my 2012 Duramax which at that time was under warranty. The dealer/GM gave me all kinds of heart ache over the fact I had a S & B CAI on the truck. I ended up getting the claim covered but I did alot of fighting to make it happen. In hindsight, I should of took the intake off before I let the dealer look at it, but S & B claimed there intakes wouldnt void my warranty. The end result was GM paid for the repair but put my OEM intake back on the truck when it left the dealership. Just some food for thought for you.

CAI are worth entertaining when they cost about $100, more than that and you're just pissing money out the window. These non-tune varieties aren't worth anything and the tune required versions are the worst piece of garbage they've come up with. Needs a tune = more $$$ on top of being ripped off to begin with = voids power train warranty...it's lunacy and they keep taking your money and laughing.
