Cams Job Cost?
I've seen some mentions of high cost for the project.
Does anyone have cost estimates on the labor? Can it be done engine in the car? Is this a DIY (plug and play) or must be professionally done? Besides that results? Also the same for pistons and rods if any. |

I would give a few of the sponsors on this site a call and get a quote from them.
ive changed 100's of cams in LSx model vehicles but never done one on a LT1.with that being said if you have mechanical skills you can swap out a cam with the engine in your car. hopefully next year I will throw a cam in my car. |

Customer pay labor time show 5.5-6.5 hours for camshaft replacements.

Those are v8 prices. He has i4, will be significantly cheaper.
But internet prices are not going to help you, call some local places. Nothing magical to it about our engines, should be relatively quick job. |

From the looks of some youtube videos I've seen, you can do the cam job without pulling the engine. I'm pretty sure its still a nightmare though.

Damn, my bad lol never even seen that. Not bashing at all.... but why would you waste money on an I4 cam? I didnt even know they made one for it or how much power is expected but i guess all these turbo 4s nowadays are getting quicker lol

There are hidden bolts and near impossible bolts to get to on the back of that valve cover and for the vacuum pump.. it is a nightmare to pull that valve cover

Well, there are two cams, not one, and its not really about power, its about fuel.
