Ceramic coating. What's the cost?

I'm looking to ceramic coat my car, wheels and windows included. does anyone have an estimate, quote, or experience with pricing for me? would also need full paint correction.

Thanks

900-1500 - It’s not the ceramic that is expensive, it’s the prep for it, usually 6 to 8 hours of polishing.

Ceramic coating. What's the cost?

I'm having film done and SB3 coating for $3,400. Also having 2 layer windshield protection done for $300 and interior done for another $400. I'm probably going over-board, but plan on tracking car and want to have good protection.

did mine myself, 65 for the ceramic coating brought two bottles as i was doing wheels as well, got a professional to come to the house who color corrected, (didnt need much luckly) washed and clayed the car. The next day when I was sure everything was dry i through up a tent in the driveway and went to work coating the car. I did two applications per panel. The next day I took of the wheels and wiped them down an applied two applications to each wheel. Came out great, product is still working as advertised 4 months later, wheel dust is still present, but comes off much easier, like throw a cup of water on the wheels and a majority of it just falls off. All in all i spent about 500 to include the detail the ceraminc coating, and the cheap tent from walmart....lol

You are way overboard......detailers are really making hay on ceramic jobs.... all ceramics and nano ceramic coatings are simply a wipe on and a light buff. Some of them a little more difficult than others, but $400 for the interior? Oh my God .......

I recently had this discussion with my Colorado. The detailer quoted $1000 for paint correction and ceramic coating. I ended up buying a Cquartz kit for $75, and doing the paint correction myself prior (I already have a Porter Cable). Took me about 14 hours over two days to do the entire truck, twice, including prep. Well worth putting the effort in myself versus paying someone.

Essentially, here’s the way to figure out how much your coating should cost. First how good is your paint? Can you walk around the car and see no swirls, no major imperfections, because you just picked up the car and it’s in good shape? Then you don’t need much paint correction. the coating product is somewhere to the detailer between at Max $200-$300. And that’s if he uses one of the proprietary coatings,Only available to detailers like opticoat pro, or cquartz finest. If he’s going to use over-the-counter like cquartz, 22ple or Adams, it’s no more than $100. And how many coats of the putting on? some of the ceramic detailers lay people away by putting 10 coats on the car, totally unnecessary and there’s plenty of detailing posts about how they get so thick it cracks when it’s on that thick. Two coats are fine of a good coating. It takes an hour and a half to put on a coating ... it’s wipe on and buff off.

Then you have to figure out how many hours he’s going to take to do the job to put correct the paint. New car should not need more than eight hours of polishing, so what is labor rate? $75? So it’s 8×75+300. That 900.... For the paint. Wheels are an hour or two, four wheel, depending on whether he has to take off the wheels or not. And the interior? A couple hours to wipe down one of the silica coatings. Windshields? No more than two hours of polishing and laying on something like Carpro flyby 30. Which is 50 bucks. Over the counter. Sirously, wheels, windshields and interior, you should do yourself. Because it’s literally wipe on and off, With Virtually no prep.

I was at tech editor over the Corvette forum and we went through this for the C7 when it came out. People are so tickled that they bought a new car the detailers just lay them away. They know they spent a lot of money so then they basically charge of a lot of money because they’re so giddy about having a car they’ll pay it. ‘Nothing but the best” is what you always hear from detailers to a guy with a brand new expensive car.I know a guy that paid $600 for tint just because the detailer guy asked for, it was standard Llumar tint.

Before I get attacked by the detailers, you know that there are guys out there that are unscrupulous. You may not be. But if you’re charging $4000 for a coating then yes, I’m talking to you.

ALL of the supplies you need to Paint correct and Ceramic coat will run you no more than $300-$400 and that's if you're buying a good product like Adam's Polishes. If you have a polisher already, it's going to be less than half of that.

And don't get sold on "Oh well, he's a professional. He could probably do it better than me. I might screw it up." etc. It's very easy. Applying a coat of wax is probably harder. The only pain with ceramic coating is you want to make sure your finish is as good as possible before you put down a ceramic coat.
