Unhappy Unlike TopHat, my car did not make it a year

I was on 95 getting off on my exit to go to work. We were all backed up...but everyone was stopped. The line started moving again...and then everyone slammed on brakes in front of me. I rear ended the rear of the SUV in front of me unable to stop. Unfortunately at my mileage (50100) there was no saving her. A 30mph hit did all this. It sucks but the car did it's job keeping me safe. Don't think I'm going to end up with another one. RIP April:

An SUV stopped in front of you and you were not able to brake in time? Yikes! I thought the SS's had good braking power with the Brembos.

Were you found at fault?

Most likely unless mechanical failure of the car is to blame

Regardless the underlying circumstances, the old 'Failure to maintain assured clear distance' will always bite you hard in the ass.

Glad you are safe and hopefully no one else got hurt. Always maintain a safe distance behind the car in front of you at all times- you never know when someone is going to slam on the brakes and you need to be able to stop. If you hit the guy in front of you, you are at fault.

Maintain a safe following distance and this wouldn't happen.
