Self-Installed my Pro-charger this weekend!

Psc1
Helica Gears
Stage 2 intercooler

$5550 shipped took 14 days as they were waiting on a new pipe for the kits.

Start off I am not very mechanically inclined. I done cold air intakes plugs wires coil paks but nothing that ever had a 6 hour install time However if you are as green as me where there is a will there is a way. But well let me give you some tips.

You will need a 240lb torque wrench says no where in the list of tools needed. When I got to that in the instructions I had to run and rent one. It takes two people to torque it one under the car holding the engine from turning well other using a breaker bar trying to hear that glorious tick. Ps. Be very careful. I used he man strength lost my grip wrench game little lose heard a click. Well it wasn't click to say I was at 240lbs it was click that I broke off the cheap plastic t line on my thermostats housing. Off to dealership 83 dollars later installed the housing and finally torqued her.

At step it tells u to put top intercooler pipes on to throttle body. Don't do it as a page later they give you a tech tip to undo the pipe to throttle body to run the coolant hoses. So had to remove stuff I just installed as sure enough those houses with that pipe in the way was a pain.

Other things you need not on tool list. Blue loctite Silicone Patients getting the locks they provide to line up with your crank pulley that part along took me 2 hours of taking off adjusting putting on adjusting taking off the diagram in the book no where near worked for me. But got it on with my mechanic budy test it out to double check my work since one most important things.

Also make sure you have a coolant bleeder pump tool thingy it's a pain getting all the coolant back in the car this helped a lot.

Bags to put ur bolts and screws name those bags I was having a hell of a time with putting front bumper on and I had so many extra screws and bolts.

Oh blower says its shipped dry that's not accurate . Spilled oil all over my work bench when I opened it up and was fooling with it as it says shipped dry so as a dummy to show it off I picked it up thinking no oil was in it.
Tune took 2 days so that was awesome fast turn around. They did the afm delete for me but said they can't raise governor or in park rev limiter 😩

This is huge and my biggest gripe Get the race valve. For some reason they give you brackets for the new cooler relocation they could easily put a extension with a hole that you could zip tie the surge valve house tube too. Instead they make you zip tie it to your bumper fascia. It's gaudy and ugly. I am feeling dumb for not upgrading to the red race valve instead now. As looks like my intercooler has a penis popping out of it. I was also was not a big fan drilling into the cool filter that says ProCharger and now I drill into that to put in that bleed line. No other way to do that??

Well start up. Wow. Jet engine awesomeness. I had a stage 3 srt-4 and a kb blown cobra this car sounded way more bad ass on start up. My First drive and wot. Amazing completely different car. sounds amazing!!! So I ask myself Was the 14 hours total it took me to put the last bolt in and 3 smashed fingers and 4 minor scraps and cuts worth it. Hell yeah!!

Thanks Pro-charger. You made this 38 year old feel 21 again. I am one happy customer!!

Time to get it dyno'd and show us the numbers .
Awesome that you did your own install. Reading this made me even more anxious than I already am for mine to come in!
Gratz!

This has somewhat inspired me to attempt to do it myself. Though I'm the kind of idiot that dropped a bolt in the engine bay when doing a strut bar so I'm not if I should.

Yeah pro charger came with color pictures arrows to what bolts to remove. I have to say they made the instructions very simple easy understand for a novice as I be honest all my other cars I had professionally done. This time I said screw it I need to learn. So, doing this was a huge confidence booster.

On the price I msg every dealer sponsor on this site. They all sent me quotes some guys were dicks saying ProCharger sucks we don't sell that garbage others were cool but still pretty high. Tim Perdieu hooked me up with a shop. That came in at that price they were professional and answered my emails promptly. Even with the delay they kept me in the loop.

Dyno numbers maybe. I never got a base line accept I ran 12.7 111mph high da's at my local drag strip. I post slips when it opens in a month

Few things to note/check. Check your maf (make sure it's not making contact with your shroud where the clip is). Make sure your hose isn't resting on one of the notches of your fan shroud either. Put a small pit in mine. If you have no room left for adjustment (cutting the inlet tube where it meets the throttle body), just use some thick felt tape. I used that for my maf clip and the one contact point on the bend, has been working out so far.

I'm going to hunt around for a used race valve for a bit. Buyers remorse set in as soon as I installed that hideous black tube haha

Welcome to the club
I'm glad I wasn't the only guy to tackle it myself, I got my kit used so not having the parts packaged the way they come from Procharger made it a bit more difficult. How bad was removing the crank bolt for you? It took 3 people well over an hour(maybe 2 hours) using the method you described for mine, that thing was on there TIGHT!!!!

Can you show us what you mean by the black tube you don't like? I have the race valve upgrade and can't visualize what part you believe is unsightly. Also what size pulley and how much power did you put down?

I am running the pulley came with kit. Only took two me with toque wrench and breaker bar up top and my mechanic buddy underneath. I had him come visit during crank part of the install as I knew it takes two plus wanted him double check my work as I was little nervous. I did as I described snapped off the plastic t house connected to the thermostat housing had to buy a new housing. I am not sure I mean it was evil but we got it off and torqued we both are avid weight lifters I am 6'3 215lbs so had good leverage and my wife made me a spinach salad for lunch. Maybe my Popeye strength kicked in. Yeah it's a long black tube come out of the intercooler u hook surge valve to it and it has a filter at the end of it. After I get tires and rims will get the race valve !! Lol. I need some traction these 275 go crazy on the street at wot lol

I think you have me mixed up with the OP but here are a few answers to questions from my perspective of the install.

I don't like the black bend tube coming from the standard bypass valve. It looks tacky compared to the nice race valve. The standard bypass is a l shaped rubber tube that goes to the black bypass valve that has a filter attached to it. It tucks behind the bumper and unless ziptied properly flops around like a penis during boost gain/bypass. Good call on the race valve.

The crank bolt took 2 fattys (im 190 and my buddy is 200+) and some engineering (aka using a long thick tube to give us some extra torque) but we eventually cracked it loose. Definitely not 2 hours, but we did scratch our heads a few times to figure out the safest way to make it happen. Worked out in the end. I went with a 4.25, i made 630/587 on a dynocom. No baseline sadly :(.

I did confuse you with OP, I love to see what kinds of number guys put down with these systems to compare to mine, I may look into the 4.25" pulley in a few months. Did you upgrade fueling? We did the same thing with a long pipe, holding the torque converter in place from under the car was the hard part!

From what exxit was saying I understand why you guys dislike the blowoff valve. The pulley has the size engraved on the front for reference! I too need some wider rear tires now, I'm doing burnouts at 25-45mph right now!
