2016 Camaro Brake Cooling Ducts
So has anyone done brake cooling ducts on the their 2016 yet? I drive pretty hard and even with the Powerstop Z26 kit I'm cooking the brakes on mountain roads so I'm concerned that when I track it will not have brakes at all.
Ideas/pictures? thanks, Phillip

I'm still running stock fluid. Should I upgrade to Dot 4 or 5?

Exactly! Both! Petal wants to go to the floor and it's like driving a runaway mine train!

Dont put DOT5 in this car. Not the right fluid.
Buy Castrol SRF or Motul 600. Both are great. |

Even with the stock fluid, I'm surprised you are "cooking" them. Are you riding them all the way down steep mountain roads? Do you have the factory track cooling deflectors and rotor shields installed?

Um yeah...you are wondering why you have issues when you are hammering on your brakes, yet you are using the OEM fluid lol? All cars come with DOT 4 pretty much now, it's the boiling point that matters. Get some high boiling point Motul in there and that should at the very least help...

Factory deflectors installed. I do drive it like I stole it though...

On top of that, if I had to guess, you're probably riding the brakes instead of getting on them hard. This causes excess heat that builds in the system. You need to be smooth but aggressive.
Staying on the brakes instead of hard on, then off, is actually harder on the braking system as it builds a lot of heat. |
