Long crank cold start
Hello, i recently purchased a 2016 2ss and im very pleased with the car however I believe this car may have been a demo car for the dealership (if thats even such a thing). it had 90 miles on it when i purchased and had a pretty solid price decrease on it that they would only offer on this vehicle not the other 2ss's in their lot. Due to this I've been overly critical of the car because its new and i expect everything to be perfect.
I may be going crazy but what are your thoughts on this cold start of my car? ![]() https://youtu.be/ga3jd8zA4kc |

Sounds normal to me. DI motors crank a little longer than wet ports do.
From what I've seen/read, it's has to do with having the hi-pressure pump in the manifold area having to get up to PSI to inject fuel, unlike a near-port just being fed off PSI from the rear -- which ramps up much faster. DI fuel pressures are something like 2100 PSI over the ~60PSI of older LS3 using in-tank pump only. |

Normal. Mine starts the same.
90 miles isn't like a sales manager drove it to work every day or anything. GM gives the dealership money to discount individual vehicles based on a number of factors - my car had a similar extra $1000 discount while other Camaros did not. Don't look at it under a microscope - drive and enjoy it, and be happy about the extra discount.

Mine does the same thing. It idles at around 1000 rpm for 30 - 40 seconds and then drops to 500 rpm.

Same as mine. It's normal. Higher idle RPM at the beginning of a cold start is most likely to quickly bring the catalytic converters to optimal temperature. Although 30-40 seconds is about twice as long as they should need.

Yep, rest assured it's totally normal. As mentioned with the direct infection it takes time for the mechanical pump to boost up fuel pressure. They all do it!

Car and driver had a chart one issue with cold cranking times for the lt1. If I remember right, it was up to 7 seconds in the coldest environments
