I have a ss manual. I believe the parking brake is supposed to release when the car is in gear and the gas is pressed. Sometimes randomly the parking brake does not come up and I have to press the actual button. Also I stop on some steep hills everyday and I've only seen hill assist come on once. I don't even bother trying anymore and just hold the clutch in the sweet spot.

Hill assist works on my RS. And the brake DOES come off when hitting the gas.

You have to give it enough force with the gas pedal to make the parking brake disengage. But why are you doing it like that? Just push the button down in the opposite direction and it will turn off. Are you trying to use it for small inclines where hill start doesn't come on?

My clutch would not like you riding it like that, just curious, do you smell anything?

I have a 1ss and the proper way is hold your foot on the brake and push down. Then when you park, foot on brake and pull up on the button. The hill assist kicks in when you rock back and forth. Do not hold the clutch in the "sweet spot" This is how you burn a clutch up. Just letting it barely keep slipping or rest your foot on the clutch while you drive will glaze the flywheel. Kind of like if you just ride your brakes. Think of a clutch as an on and off switch for longevity. Obviously to induce a sideways drift can feather the clutch. Although these cars do not need any thing more than throttle.

I have no problem turning on and off the parking brake with the button. the thing is the manual says it should disengage when the gas is pressed. Also can you further explain what you mean by rock back and forth? when i say im holding in the sweet spot i mean when i am stopped on a hill. Its either that or roll backwards when going from brake to gas. there is no glazing in that action

There is no riding of the clutch or slipping. i am talking about being stopped at a light on a hill

, Holding the clutch got me to ask the question. On my car the HA will not activate if you pull the e-brake one click. But when it does activate, it takes about 5 seconds, no matter what you do.

Oooo OK, so 5 seconds. I usually never wait 5 seconds because by that time someone will be on my bumper. I'll try that sometime when the snow clears.

I understand that to be a "backup" feature to prevent you from driving down the road with the parking brake on...I admit, I haven't read the manual. Does it say that that's how it's supposed to work?
