Is there an IROC-Z coming?

Anyone know if Chevy plans on releasing an IROC-Z this year or next?

What makes you think they will release a Camaro to commemorate a racing competition that's been dead for about 10 years now? o_O

No. Supposedly "IROC" is owned by some other entity now, so they couldn't use the name even if they wanted to.

We have enough models to look forward to and hope for with the 1LE (though technically not a model), ZL1, and Z/28. And we might not even get that many!

I had an '88 IROC-Z...

But I'm only half Italian, and don't wear enough cologne.

That would be cool if they had the rights to put one out. I grew up in the 80's and 90's and I remember seeing Iroc Camaros all over town. They are the cars that got me into Camaros.

I heard they added a special order option for a front dash with the edge of an axe blade too!

IROC was not a GM badge. It was a racing series that no longer exists. The 3rd gen cars were selected for the series, which is why they built 3rd gen IROC cars. GM doesn't even have the rights to the IROC name.

IROC was an acronym for International Race of Champions. It was a race that had all Camaros with the idea it would be the driver's ability that would win since all cars were equal. When Chevy pulled out of the race Dodge Daytonas were used for the IROC. The race quickly went away after that. The IROC package left when Chevy pulled the Camaro from the race. My guess is that name is owned by someone other than GM.
