Window tinting availability?
How long after a new car is released do tint shops get patterns to do the windows?

Patterns? They trim the tint on the outside then apply it. They can tint any window.

Yea i have never seen a pattern before. Window tint comes on a roll and they trim it to fit the window.

They do use plotters to computer cut the film at most places now. I have taken 2 brand new cars into shops here locally, and they already had the files to do the work.

17 ZL1 what a car....

I live in South Florida and most of the window tinting is done with large plotters that cut the film for you. The cuts are perfect every time. I would think they would have the dimensions a month or so after release. If you can find a shop with a very experienced installer I am sure he can do a great job that no one can tell the difference.... JMHO

All the window tinters around my area do it by hand. Interesting they use plotters now. Took the craftsmanship out of custom window tinting. I am sure price did not go down because they invested in a plotter. Actually should be able to just buy the window tint already cut online and easy install.

I'll never do it again... I'll just gladly pay some professional to do it.

Same here...I have done it a few times, years ago. It is a real pain, too tedious for me. If I decide to do it when I take delivery, I will let someone else do it. I believe my dealer actually does it, they have a separate accessories/install building.
