GT350 / R pricing and builds
Not sure this is news, I'm on Ford's site configuring a GT350
Base Price $48,695 Track Pack at $6500 gets you: 1. MRC 2. Integrated Driver Control System (what is that?) 3. Raised Decklid Spoiler (hahahaha...just like the SS) 4. Engine Oil, Tranny, Diff Coolers 5. Heavy Duty Front Springs 6. Aluminum Front Tower bar 7. i think Recaro's too, but not on the info list, but if i remove them then i have to remove track pack. GT350R Base Price $62,195 this upgrades the GT350 with standards of: Track Pack Carbon Fiber Wheels Sticky wider tires Wheel Locking kit (?) Carbon Fiber rear wing Chin Splitter Chassis Tuning Takes out all comfort creatures - add back stereo and other tech for $3K This car looks bad ass compared to standard models - i'm liking it alot. I just hope this means ZL1 / Z28 will blow our minds.

Indeed. It is a sexy car. Amazing how awesome this thing looks vs the Ford Accord. Lol

Happy for anyone who buys and enjoys this car. Should be great. Base GT350 is 50k.. With gas guzzler tax.

I was building one on the site yesterday too. It's a slick looking car. I can't wait to see some test numbers on it. I wonder if it's supposed to compete with the Vette or a ZL1/Z28 Camaro?

It'll compete more with the z28, but it should stack up well against a z51 optioned corvette... it won't touch a z06 though

It was not benchmarked against any particular GM offering, so I would not say it is intended to compete against either of those vehicles. I imagine it will be able to manage track performance on par with either the base Corvette or the z/28. Time will tell.

This was stated by another exec during their media ride alongs at Gratten Raceway Kerry Baldori, Chief Functional Engineering, Global Performance Vehicles at Ford: "We brought our GT350R and our GT350 Track Pack here at Grattan to do fair, back to back same day and same driver comparisons. The GT350R with the Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires is equal to the 100th of a second as fast as the Porsche 911 GT3 and it is over a second quicker than the Z/28. The base GT350 with Track Pack, which uses the Pilot Super Sport tire, is equal again, to within a 100th of a second to the Porsche Carerra and the Corvette C7 with the Z51 package." __________________ |

Odd since Ford said the 350R is faster than Z/28 at their track by 1 second. Not sure what your definition of benchmarked is, but I'd bet they bought and ran Z/28s.

The more I read about the GT350 the more I want one. I also want a 2SS though. And a C7.

I really think GM should bring back the ol 5.7 in a OHC,DI form...I think it would eat the new FPC Ford motor alive!

Seriously, I agree with you. More I read about the GT350, more attractive it sounds, but my company doesn't have business with Ford, and we have several parts going into Camaro, so I'm sticking with Camaro. |
