Building a new gaming PC/editing rig

Here is my old rig

Intel core 2 quad 2.66ghz
4GB of Corsair ram (800mhz/PC-6400)
MSI G31tm- p21 motherboard
Sapphire Radeon HD4850 512mb video card(800-900 stream processors)
2.25 TB of HD space
Logitech G15 gaming
Logitech G5 gaming mouse

My new rig

Intel core I7 sandy bridge 3.4ghz (3.8 with turbo boost)
16GB of G.Skill ram (1600mhz/PC-12800)
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7 P67 motherboard
Gigabyte Radeon HD6970 2GB video card (1536 stream processors)
Logitech G15 gaming Keyboard
Logitech G5 gaming mouse
2.25TB of hard drive space

Yes I know about the issue with the p67 chipset lucky for me my new board has 4 sata 6gb ports and 4 sata 3gb ports

I still need to buy a new monitor which will be a Samsung, a X-Fi sound card and I'm thinking about buying a 1.5TB HD to give me 3.75TBs of space

why a samsung monitor? AOC puts out some very good products, at 1080p... and are cheaper and actually more reliable then the other name brands out there.. you should do a little bit of research on them

I would rather get an LG monitor since I already have a bunch of LG electronics, in open to any brand monitor really tho but it may have 1080p, a hdmi input and wide screen

Check the Sandybridge proc, I caught something the other day about an issue with them which is delaying something??? I am not sure so just check it. I am not ready to build my new rig so I didnt pay too close attention.

Samsung monitors are good stuff!! I have a 226w and love it. Plus wife works at samsung so.....

Cheers

I want to build a new PC but I have to put off for a while.
Well, I'll be reading you guys builds and accomplishments.

Too bad we can't get that Camaro case and build our own inner.

Intel’s press release points to a flaw in the chipset’s SATA ports — the inputs to which hard drives and optical drives are connected — which causes them to degrade over time, “potentially impacting the performance or functionality of SATA-linked devices such as hard drives and DVD-drives.”

Geez, your old rig is nice but the new one is GODLIKE!

I won't build another rig for about 2 years, but I MIGHT upgrade the GPU. I currently have HD4890, which can play any game out there. But I want max resolution and settings.

I suggest you get your case painted the same color as your car

Nice. Be sure to post pix of the build and such. I'm GbrilliantQ from Overclock.net btw, if anyone here is a member.

What PSU and case are going with?
