To use it as a tool to stop someone you may reasonably suspect is doing something else a bit more problematic is fine by me. But if there's really NO good reason to do so, or you clearly don't have intentions of issuing a citation, IMO you'd be using the lamely-written law as a cover just to be a di*khole and NOT what it's designed for. Because then you run into what constitutes "warning" use and that's a whole lot more subjective. acatlover13 summed it up as a WARNING of getting your butt kicked if you don't move. Besides, it's safer than getting out and slapping the zombie in the head and then getting back in your car...haha. Or get a GSW (pocket whistle), roll down the window and blow it.

And they think the Arizona law on "uninvited guests" is asinine...THIS one is pretty asinine the way it's written, IMO.

As a police officer, I don't think I would make that stop, unless I thought it would lead to something else. That sounds like a good PC type statute. It's not uncommon for stops like that to lead into a bigger issue, ie;DUI, drugs, suspended driver, etc.

Again, the officer didn't issue a citation, so one would think he was having a slow day or was "window shopping" (as we call cheese PC stops) for a more serious infraction.
I agree, but honestly I would think there is more to this than we were told...and not by fault of the OP. My guess being he may have been hunting for something more, and probably had more pc to boot....whether it included drifting, or just one simple fail to maintain. All I am saying is I am not going to jump this officer when I didn't see it, not to mention it IS justified. Cheese none the less...but justified

I wonder why you don't just set up random road blocks and check everyone for their "papers"? I bet that would lead to bigger issues too.

The car in front of me did not move and after about 3-4 seconds I beeped my horn (just a quick beep, I did not lay on the horn) after I beeped the car took the left and I followed. As we took the left I saw a cop to my left with waiting to go straight. He did a uturn and followed me and I wondered if he was after me. The lights came on and he pulled me over. He asked me for my reg and insurance and told me that he pulled me over for an illegal use of a horn. WOW! I had no idea you could not use the horn in that case. He did not give me a ticket, I think because when he ran my info he saw the last time I had a speeding ticket was 1988. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I call BS on the cop!!!!

I was an auxiliary cop in NYPD -- and in New York, this is also the law!

The fun part of these signs, pictured below, is that people would white-out the "D" so they would say "No Horn Blowing Except for ANGER!"

I wish they'd pass a law to stop people on the street who's pants aren't properly fastened around their waste.

I bet those kinds of stops would lead to bigger issues too.

what a BS excuse to pull someone over. Is there even a such thing as an illegal use of your horn? That pig is an idiot.

I do that all the time when some is sleeping thru a light. Sounds like he just wanted an excuse to pull you over...
