I went and checked out the 16 1SS today. It was in warm storage at the dealership but I wasn't able to take it for a test drive due to the bad weather. Anyway, I really like it! The interior is so much better than the 5th gen and the car is squeaky clean! I think I've made up my mind between the 2 cars so I'm calling tomorrow to see what kind of deal I can get. Wish me luck!

Yes they did. The 5th gen 1le package was $3500 with optional $2k recaro seats available with 1ss, 2ss and rs package could be added as well. EDIT* OP no way would I consider a 5th gen over a 6th gen

So, what are the odds? I emailed an offer last night and got a call from the salesman this morning. He said “sorry to tell you but the car has been sold a half hour after you left yesterday”. WTF!

Going from a 5th Gen 45th anniversary to the 6th Gen 50th Anniversary is like night an day. Both cars we 2SS Automatics but the the difference in the way they drive is dramatic. My 5th Gen was a heavy bloated car. Always felt like the I was trying to drive and elephant on roller skates. Granted, Mine was not the 1LE which I know is a better driving car but going to the 6th Gen was such a difference in driving experience that it's almost unexplainable.
Go drive both cars and see which one you prefer. I personally wouldn't look twice at a 5th gen after driving the current car. |

Sorry if I missed it earlier in your post. What’s your cut off price? stick or auto? Color preference? There are a few deals up here, one in particular is a brand new 2018 grey 1SS A8 for 33.6k. I bet you can knock another $500- $1000 off it.

I wouldnt ever consider a 5th Gen even if it were a ZL1 vs a 6th Gen SS. The 6th Gen is just a world of a better car. I would take a 6th Gen SS over a 5th Gen ZL1 even if they practically gave it to me.
