I was told that OnStar has a lithium backup battery so that even if power was cut, it would continue to operate and track? Also, if they were able to track it for 48 hours, then why :

a) did the police not recover it in that time window, and
b) did OnStar not remotely disable the vehicle?

LA cops/courts have more important things to do, like Greasing
The turnstiles of justice, er, I mean no justice. If you find your
Car, u wouldn’t want it after the POS got through with it.
PS. You don’t leave any High End car on a public street in LA!

If my tracker shows me where my car is, I'm going to go get it.

This is the obvious solution. I would say "don't leave it out", but I know that's not practical.

By the way, everyone, another car was stolen again in North Houston. So all you Texans need to be more vigilant.

I think I would prefer the insurance payout to a gunfight.

I've lived in a 3rd world country, and it's exactly the same thing as Kalifornia. God Bless you guys for putting up with that sh*t. No amount of money would keep me there.

Ask your insurance what they will give you a discount for having installed. That's probably going to be the good stuff anyway so total win/win.

For those that have to park their car outside and there are many such people, before you go to bed, couldn't you run down and pull one of the key fuses and or relays? In addition to turning off remote entry

Could pull the fuel pump relay(s). Then it definitely wont start, unless they come in with a tow truck....

Just be careful if you are going to be doing that a lot. I don't think the fuse/relay terminals are rated for that kind of action. Potentially over time they could become faulty and need to be replaced.

I agree. If Vin Diesel and his crew show up with a wreaker you're dead, but most are probably one or two-man nonprofessionals acting impulsively and planning to drive it away.
