Went to Atco last night....
Once again chasing the elusive 11s. These day we are so jaded, 11s are no big deal right? Yet an 11 second car is fast enough to be a boatload of fun and about the maximum that is useful on the street without putting other people and yourself at risk. As for me as a kid I read everything I could about Motion Performance in NY. They were building 427 Novas, Camaros, and Chevelles that could run 11.5 in the 1/4 with slicks and open headers. (We called LTs headers back then.) This was the stuff of my dreams. I hoped someday I would own an 11 second Chevy Camaro. The book! https://www.amazon.com/Motion-Perfor.../dp/0760335389 Now this is my third 11 second Camaro. Little did I know back then how easy this can be these days. Like for a few grand you can put together a 4 door Nova with an iron truck LS block and Ebay turbos and a little welding. What I like about my current Camaro is that an 11 is possible on most nights if I can make it happen. If this was easy, why would I bother. There goes the fun. Last night the DA started around +1500 and went down to around 600 when I left. I did run 2 11s so it was a good night with an 11.992@119.86 at +1,000 DA and 11.978@118.18 at +600 DA. That second run was a little sloppy, but the car still came through. A good night! Also I met Bob, an owner of a CA6 ZL1 A10 in the best Camaro color MBM . He has drag raced in the past but is just learning about the Web. So he may not show up here. He was not aware of Camaro6. He ran three times that I knew of 11.9 (first pass ever), 12.0, and 11.9. I did not catch his mph but I think it was well over 120. His 60's were around 2.0. When I left the DA was +500 and dropping. I was hoping to line up with him as my SS M6 was running about the same times. Obviously with more seat time his car was capable of much more, but I think a great first outing. His plans are to run 20" NT555Rs full time like me. I did not influence him, that was already his plan. Use the stock back wheels to save $$ and get good traction on the street 24x7 in warm weather. No hassle of switching wheels for 1/2 of a tenth. His ZL1 is just his trophy car and will not see daily use. Nice guy, hope he comes back. How will his car do in -1,000- DA with the Nittos? ![]()

Congrats on the 11s! You should just get more and more consistent in the 11's with the fall air soon approaching.
No such thing as someone who drag races and doesn't post their times on the internet! Time to light that fire.

I went to Atco last night....
The DA was +2,000. A perfect time for a not so good DA 11 second run! And for starters I was smoking: Run #1: 12.037@118.65 with a 1.861 60' Run #2: 12.038@119.18 with a 1.929 60' How's that for consistency? Sigh. Run #1 had good 60' with sloppy shifting. Run #2 was a lousy 60' with spot on shifting. If I could put the best of those 2 runs together, 11s easy, maybe even a high 11.8. So the DA dropped a little to +1,800. For my third run I was poised to run a Challenger Scat Pack auto with DRs. I knew it would be a close run. But it was not to be. I really messed up the run. I red-lighted, blew the launch, and missed third. I did beat him with the red light and his nap at the line. But it was a hollow victory. I ran 12.447@114.19 with a 1.997 60' to his 12.162@114.63 with a 1.762 60' on a -.187 red light. On another note there was a new Jeep TrackHawk with the Hellcat motor in the T&T lanes. It had tags from the Midwest and I think the guy said he was associated with Motor Trend(?). He was running 12.0s too! I so wish we could have run together so perhaps I could paint a TrackHawk kill on my front fender. It was not to be. Maybe he will come back on Friday.Or maybe I scared him off. ![]() ![]() Here it is in the metal, the Jeep Trackhawk (Hellcat). Starting price of $85,900 [plus $1,095 destination],+ many options. ![]() ![]()

I found another video of the TrackHawk making some passes, the guy says 11.84 in it's 2nd pass but I can't see the time display.
https://youtu.be/BygLK9BOOqo Michigan tags too. That's pretty cool they came all the way to Atco to run, it's a shame the DA sucked though. I was at Mighty Joe's filling up on e85 and I was going to head there yesterday but decided against it, maybe I'll see ya there next week....if Irma doesn't wreak havoc up this way.

Did you see the gears thread in the bolton section? Richmond is making gears for the SS, a 3.90 and a 4.10. I don't see much point in the 3.90 so what do you think about a gear for the A8? I am all in on the 4.10. More $$ I need to spend next spring. (It never ends.) I am thinking Jerry at Ideal Garage if he can do gears. Anyone else closer that I could trust?

I went to Atco last night.....
And the DA was only +900! By the time I left at 9:20 the DA had dropped to -60. Welcome to Atco in the pre-fall days. The SS was again showing me how it was capable of 11s if I only could launch the car. As you might have guess I ran a 12.094 at 117.38 and a 12.076@118.93. On that first run the carfet flat for some reason and the MPH reflected that feeling. Weird. But then on the next run felt better. My third run, my only one in the left lane, was a throw away with a 12.201@119.61. I spun at the line! Weird again. No one else was having trouble there so I must have lined up out of the groove. The DA was around +500 at that point. So I stayed a little later than usual and was rewarded with a little better than sea level DA. Also I got a chance to run this very nice younger guy, I think his said his name was Sean. He had a very cool looking stock blacked out 2nd gen auto CTS/V on stock tires. His last run was an 11.7 before he lined up with me. He was excited about his time until the Atco starter told him stock CTS/Vs run in the 10s. LSA CTS/Vs? LOL. Maybe LT4 CTS/Vs. Anyway we lined at the front of the long T&T line to lead off the lane 9-10 street car run. I hoped we could give the fans a fun run. It was up to me not to mess up. We did not disappoint. We both took a nap at the line trying to get a good launch. My .276 RT to his .360. I had a slight advantage going in. But his 60' was better .1.820 to my 1.870. By the 1/8 we were fender to fender with the CTS/V with a slight advantage. But then on the 2nd 1/2 of the track I started pulling him! I got the win light by .0774. Great race! We talked after the race and are looking forward to a rematch. I ran a 11.879@119.70 to his 11.872@118.85. A run like this makes my night, no matter the ET. What is also interesting is the E85 SS does not seem to care much about the DA MPH wise. And is always ready for an 11 payoff if I can put together a solid run. ![]()

I went to Atco Last night....
My main goal was to test TC off in Track mode instead of competition mode. I had 6 runs. The DA stayed around +800-950. On one run the car burped at the line, just lost power, weird. It might have been a combination of holding a launch rpm too long and the E85 conversion. Don't know. So out of the other 5 they wound up pretty normal, 1 12.0, 2 12.1s, a 12.3 (I hit the limiter in 2nd and 3rd, and a 2.1 60' Doh!), and a 11.860@119.72 payoff. My 60's were 2 1.8s, 2 1.9s, and the 2.1. So a pretty normal night for me. Definitely there is no launch M6 fall over with just TC off. And now I am sure as the DA dips in the fall at Atco 1.7s even with my 20" NT555Rs and so so track prep are quite possible. I just hope I can be that driver and move up on the fast list. Sadly there were no close races. All the cars I raced were slower than me. I did run a AWD Mercedes 6 cyl turbo E class AMG several times and his best was 12.5. I also ran a black LS3 4 door SS that runs 12.1s. But he caught me on my best run of the night, so it wasn't close.

I hope in the next two months my first runs in my stock SS turn out strong. I ran a string of 8.30's in my 15 Mustang GT stick car with Stainless Works longtubes and a SCTX4 Palm Beach dyno tune. I ran one 8.1X slipping the clutch by accident. Probably one of the best 1/8th mile tracks in the country, Galot Motorsports. I better do better in the SS.....

Off topic... Is Galot that good? I just wish they were a 1/4 mile track. I hate the drive down to Fayetteville. |

I went to Atco last night.....
But I only made 2 runs before I gave up. The DA started slightly positive and later went to around -500. My first run was against Snowblind. He treed me and then his 60' was 1.684 to my 1.975. It was over in the first 25'. He ran an 11.290@122.89 to my 12.241@116.40. I missed the 2-3. But that was not the decider. He is trying out a 3.73 diff from the M6 on his A8. He has been tuning himself and he is getting close! There may even be another tenth or two in this combo. His mods: Ported TB, self ported intake, E85, seats removed, DRs, heavy skinnies, DRs, self tune, and the 3.73 M6 diff. Impressive I would say, fast. Pat was there and recorded a new best 10.447@134.78. Also impressive for his mods. Want an easy 10 second 2017 Coyote in almost any DA? It's for sale at a great price. It is getting faster now that it has over 3K miles. As for me my best was 12.040@120.47. ![]()

I went to Atco Several nights ago....
It was a good night for NJ air dipping down to the 8-900' or so before I left. My first two runs were the best and in the 11s but with the worst DA of the night. And a new PB 11.814@120.77. I am sure I could have done better later but mostly was messing up and looking for traction. I did line up with Pat for my last run. He did not want to run me. I said give me a break at the line and I will leave early, "Come on, it'll be fun." He finally agreed. I really tried hard. I did have an okay light but spun a little. But still ran a 12.071@118.71. Not bad considering, and Pat gave me almost a full second head start. I was ahead until about 1/3 of the way down the track as Pat bellowed right by me. Pat's time was his best ever 10.344@136.51! He was moving. Snowblind was there breaking Coyote hearts with his stupid fast mildly modified A8 SS. Where is the bottle they all ask? LOL ![]()
