Additionally, I've noticed way less tornados in this area compared to the past. Liquor stores are closed on Sundays, you have to wait until 8am to buy beer i think. If you grow vegetables their is usually a pre summer harvest, a mid summer recession, then a post summer bloom that will last till about late November.
If you're not on a co-op then i would suggest energyogre.com, I've used them for about 8 years. They take care of my electric company by price shopping and keeping me within the best deals. I know it will be different for everyone but my electric bill was like $63 last month. Its been as low as $37. They charge $10 a month for their services but it's been more than with it for me.

Any input would be appreciated!
You DO NOT need to get an inspection to get your registration & tags on your cars or trucks before they come to Texas. All you need to do is get your insurance showing the cars are in your name and that insurance can still show them being in another state... you will need to show you have proof of residency in the State of Texas.

When you go to the motor vehicle office, print the form below and fill in the blanks that your vehicles are still in California. You will "Self-Certify" that the vehicles are in safe, legal running condition and at a time when you do bring them in, you will get them inspected. In 10 years... I have never had to do the inspections as the information for the emissions is actually entered into the computer database. Its just a non-flagged question for those like my permanent residency in Counties like Ft Bend but also a resident in South Carolina for work. I keep my TxDL and tax benefits also able to claim my SC rental home & shop as tax deductions.

Here is the link to the 130-U form: https://www.txdmv.gov/sites/default/...iles/130-U.pdf

If you have any questions about this, LMK!! Send me a DM.

You might have conflicting info because of the county.

To be more thorough i called the tax office myself. After a very long hold , she confirmed you do need a state inspection before you can register your car.

Next time factor county regulations into your home research, Captain

I very deliberately avoided crowded counties like Davidson and Knox here in TN, they charge way more and are overregulated.

Agreed. I just moved from Taxachusetts to New Hampshire and the town had a huge role in how high the property taxes are. If I had moved a couple towns closer to the shoreline my taxes would be 30% higher…on top of an already very significant number to begin with…! So definitely worth looking around.

Meh... ANYWHERE in TX is better than Commifornia... I don't care about the inspections, etc, it'll still be an improvement over my current situation... Can't wait! Registration will be cheaper, 0 state income tax (huge), property taxes will go up but the lack of State Income tax will completely offset that and a whole lot more... Plus gas is $2/gal cheaper in TX, not to mention everything else!

You bet! We aren't moving until late this year/early next year... We close June 1 but the owners are leasing back from us until Oct 31 (which works well for us)... But can't wait to get out there...
