Update:
The general manager just called me. We had a good discussion. He read my email and viewed the photos and the videos. I had very specific questions and he answered them all for me. He stated that the vehicle did not have any damage when it arrived and that GM is required to let him know if a vehicle has damage prior to being delivered. He said that GM did not disclose any damage to him on this ZL1. He also stated that the ZL1 did not get damaged while at his dealership. He also stated that the ZL1 was not repaired by his dealership or any business he contracts with for repairs. Now that we had that out of the way, he said that he wants to make this right. He will start an email conversation with his team and that he will include me in the emails so as to be transparent and to resolve this. I informed the general manager that I am not local to his area or dealership. The general manager then said he will get with a General Motors rep to help with this. This is refreshing news. Man, I would be beside myself if I found all that damage on a brand new, $75K car. Yes, you should have checked it more thoroughly, but that in no way excuses the condition of what is supposed to be a brand new car.
As for the dealer, of course he is going to say the damage did not occur at his place. That is par for the course for car dealers. And even if it didn't happen there, that means they have incompetent employees who missed such extensive damage. You would think a dealer would thoroughly check new cars upon delivery so that they can hold the transport company liable if damage does occur. It's too bad you are so far away that they can basically tell you "tough luck" and you have little recourse. There is a guy on YouTube who received his new 2023 SS 1LE with scratches, dings and dents. He also bought it out of state and had it delivered to his door. The dealer told him to go pound sand and said "we didn't do that". He ended up fixing everything on his dime. Please let us know if you get some satisfactory resolution to this mess. |

What does that leave? Sounds like he's saying it arrived without damage and didn't get damaged at his dealership or with anyone they contract with, therefore he's saying it happened while in your hands, so he's blaming you right? |

I had transport damage a car in route. I was bidding on a 2014 Maserati Quattroporte S Q4 on eBay autos. The price was really good but I was out bid. But a few days later, the seller emailed me saying the high bidder backed out and he'd offer me the car for the last high bid I made. It was a great deal so I agreed to buy the car. It had to be transported from Austin, TX to Columbus OH. When the car arrived, it had a damaged drivers quarter panel and a bust drivers side read tail light assembly. The only thing that saved me was the seller, took a ton of photos of the car after it was fully loaded on the transport. I had to fight the transport company's insurance company for 8 months, but finally got reimbursed. Thank goodness the seller took all the photos after it was loaded up. Good Luck

That front splitter damage is crazy. The tech who did the PDI couldn’t not have seen that. He literally fastened the air dams to the Fed up paint.. Crazy. I thought the whole point of shipping pucks in the springs was to prevent that sort of damage!
Hope the dealer makes it right. Good luck.

Update:
I never heard back from the general manager at the dealership. He stated that he would contact a General Motors Rep. I never heard from a General Motors Rep either. So it's Sunday and time to look at this bumper alignment issue and see if there is any evidence of a collision/crash from GM or transport or dealership. I am happy to report that the bumper and rear end do not show signs of a collision/crash. I have also realigned the bumper and it looks MUCH better now. I will contact the general manager tomorrow regarding the scarred belly of the front splitter and the damaged undercarriage. The undercarriage will remain damaged. I will not have it fixed or repaired. I will make a request for diminished value and request compensation and an extended warranty. Last edited by R1jamn; 07-30-2023 at 02:55 PM. |

Well I’d say the photos you took are pretty good evidence that it was scratched before they installed the scuff bar if they try to blame it on you

IMHO - you're right on track.
The things you did mess with, fixed those issues. The splitter is BS, and good on you for continuing to fight for that. You can clearly see, as others have said, that the scratches are UNDER the parts the tech would have installed, so I BET they happened in transport from the plant to the dealership. That's BS. The lift areas are BS, too, and I bet, also, from the tech. They won't hurt anything, though, but I know where you're coming from. I would be upset, too, because their techs' SHOULD know how to lift a dang car. It's not rocket science. It's lazy. Keep fighting, and keep escalating. KUDOS.
