Never had any issue with OEM blades and it's all I ever replace them with when needing replacement.

Fran, if you drive fast enough you don't need wiper blades.

You are right, the blades are crazy money. Trico and Aanco determined that they were not making money off refills so they started to charge $30 for the whole blade so that we can start filling up the landfills. I buy my refills from China at $2 ea and they work just fine. You can find them on ebay but you need to know the exact wiper claw dimensions.

The "beam blade" design on modern vehicles isn't really set up to use a refill. The whole blade is one piece so that wind pressure against the blade holds it tight to the windshield even at higher speeds like on the highway. There are some blade systems out there that use a more traditional setup where you can replace the inserts and they have a "wind deflector" mounted along a portion of the blade only. This generally only works on vehicles with smaller windshields.

Refills worked great when the blades maxed out at 18" long... Today's vehicles regularly use 22" or even 24" blades on at least one side.

A closer look at the OEM it is a beam design with metal clips holding it together. So might not be too bad

ember1205, you are full of shit. I have a 23' and most definitely has replaceable refills. You just have to be smart enough to do it.

For all around driving in all kinds of snow, rain, dust, I've always use RainX that counts on 8 different motorcycles and trucks counting U.S.Mail and cars. When I went to Az. in the snow my wiper never got any use. Coming home from Az. in the spring rains and sleet. The wiper were never used. As aside benefit bugs slide off with a damp towel. Also if you watch road racing the leading edge of the wiper arm has a V shape to put down force on the window.
