That engine bay looks great. Love the colour of your car too. Seriously one of my favourite cars on here.

The BMR is made for the ZL1...bolts right on!

A Strut Tower Brace WILL NOT fit with a Whipple on a ZL1.
As soon as it barely clears the Whipple lid, it hits the underside of the hood where the bar indent is...and it will not allow the motor to move at all.
That idea is done!

Has anyone tried to fit the GM bar over the ZL1 in the coupe ok? Does it hit the hood or would some washers allow someone to mount it over the SC?

How did you get it to fit? I tried it and it hits the SC.

The GM Performance bar for the SS definitely does not bolt on to a ZL1 without some customization at rhe mounting points to move the bar up enough to clearance for the supercharger but not too high to hit the hood. It will require a 15 to 20mm stand off gain the clearance and longer bolts.

Thought I’d give it a try.

That's from a. 5th Gen isn't it? It looks good under there. looks like it belongs. The question is did you notice any sort of notable improvement in any way from it?

I run a BMR strut tower brace like what has been shown in other photos on this thread. I have noticed the strut towers tend to camber inward a little bit when I remove it because reinstallation right after taking it off always requires I remove some items from it to be able to put it back on. Jury is out whether or not it actually improves handling at all for the BMR. It definitely does stiffen up the towers from movement though and that much I can say without a doubt.

It’s a GM 6th gen SS bar.

The hood closes and latches, but I haven’t driven it yet since the install. I’m going to reduce the bar height by another 3mm since there’s more clearance below the bar than above.

Please update on if you have any rubbing issues once you drive it. I’m interested in this and also how you plan to lower height? Thank you.

Bear in mind there's more movement between the engine and bar, than between the bar and hood.

Like it's been said, is there any performance gain from this? No one knows. Because you'll need to do before and after testing (multiple tests, not just 1 run) on a road course with a good data logger to see if this gives you an advantage in the corners.

But no one ever will so this will be up for debate for indefinitely.

I have the BMR brace on my ZL1. I like the look better than the OEM brace. I had one of those on my SS 1LE.

I'm in the camp where I think that a strut tower brace does make a difference in handling, but that's just my personal opinion.
