Dude, that comment was rude and I question if it is against the rules to offend someone. How dare you insult some who is only 5% finished of "modelling" requesting if he should contiune with some ford crap. |

With the new direct injected LT1, no compromise engine options were needed. The cam and VVT could be optimized for maximum power. The new AFM setup along with the 8sp auto brought MPG targets up where they needed to be without sacrificing HP. |

http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/eng...an-l99-camaro/ Here is one reference from one article about the AFM lifters on the L99. "Unlike a "typical" LS3 cam swap, the VVT camshaft system requires builders to remove the factory Active Fuel Management (AFM) lifters. These lifters just can't handle the lift of an aggressive camshaft, and must be swapped for a set of Comp Cams supplied hydraulic roller units. This means the cylinder heads have to come off" The AFM system on the L99 used lifters that couldn't handle more aggressive camshafts and also limited rpms further so this limited the horsepower rating and rpm range of the L99 engine compared to the LS3. I seriously doubt Chevy will bump camaro h.p. Without bumping the base corvette first.

Old AFM is history.
Look for the LT2 with more power (near 500hp) and new skip-fire AFM along with new lifters and other valvetrain hardware. Possibly in the 2019 Camaro SS (we'll know soon), definitely in the 2020 Corvette (C8) Quote:

I am curious how they would apply this dynamic deactivation to performance applications. Too many are annoyed by AFM drone now, but this new method would cause an uneven drone that will make it even more pronounced. Otherwise, it looks like a good system that could even be used to keep a cylinder deactivated when the ECU detects a single cylinder issue.

Now having said that, bumping it a few hp is, as most of you are well aware, something that can be done in the "fine tuning".

Add 15hp/15torque,drop 25lbs and throw in the 10speed auto. That'll run like a champ.
