That's a good question. I will be sure to ask. If it's the same part then maybe it's time to buy an extended warranty. Lol. But seriously the car has been great until this so maybe it's just a fluke. The weird thing is I wasn't even driving it hard or fast...just constant 70 on the highway.

That's a little disturbing...known issue with no resolution or anything to prevent it from recurring and they haven't even released an updated part in 3 years?

Do they even know what causes it?

It's been great so far. I'm liking it better than my V1 with JBV1 it's replacing. I need more time testing it though to know for sure.

Have anybody though about doing a wet sump system for this ZL1? Just curious. The ZO6 have it,why not the ZL1 & 1LE. No more oil pump failure with a wet sump system.

"No more oil pump failure with a wet (dry) sump system"? ZL1 is a wet sump, I think you mean dry sump.

And this isn't true if this new dry sump oil pump fails. The complexity of an aftermarket dry sump is extreme, with many more potential points of failure... and you would lose your GM engine warranty installing it. If my 100% stock engine fails on track it's covered by GM, if I add dry sump it isn't.

The problem isn't oil starvation because the system can't supply enough oil during high G turns (reason to install dry sump). It's that the pump in this wet sump is breaking due to mfg defect.

Also, I know a few people with dry sump Corvettes and Z28s with engine failure due to oil starvation, so that isn't always a perfect solution to oiling problems on these Chevy vehicles.

I've had my oil pump replaced twice in 6000 miles. I still can't believe it.

...so who makes a recommended replacement??

Not sure I want an OEM if it every goes out if they are not addressing the problem.

You would think they'd address this issue, and change the part or casting for 2019. In the picture I saw of a failed pump it looked like a casting/metallurgy issue that a CNC billet piece might fix.

If mine fails I hope it takes the whole motor with it. I'd rather not worry about a motor and bearings that ran at WOT for any period of time with low oil pressure.
