I did a pair of Memphis 6x9's and Memphis amp. Its awesome sound and has decent bass also with no sub.

Very cool they did.

That would hit real good that's an excellent sub.

If you are true audiophile...ok...then go ahead and spend thousands on the stereo if you will honestly get thorough enjoyment out of it.

For the rest of us, we just want more bass or perhaps bit more clarity. I like music, I like good sounds, but I'd be happy with just some good 6x9s in the rear of my 1SS, or a small powered sub.

Listen to what TheDoubleE has to say. Don't spend 3+ grand on your stereo when you'd be just as happy with something that cost less than half of that.

How about, add an amp and subwoofer now, and see if that's "enough". You can always add on later with a front stage component set and amp and a DSP.

Which ones did you go with? I am looking for a little something extra. Not feeling subs.
Thanks!

Pioneer makes some awesome 4 way 6x9's! I used to really be into car audio years ago, did everything myself.

Do a search for kenwood x301-4 and x501-1 they are class D amplifiers with a very small footprint and pack a lot of power and sound great. Have a look at this site for some deals, I have dealt with them a lot in the past. https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...on-X301-4.html

I will check them out. I Never had problems with Pioneer. Still have my Pioneer receiver from when I was a kid. Survived college and everything. Damn thing is like 27 years old! Only use it in my garage these days.

Yeah I have a lot of Pioneer stuff still, was able to grab one of their Kuro Plasmas before they got out of the TV business...TV still beats anything out there today!

I plan to do the 6x9s in the rear deck of mine too. Did you make custom brackets to mount them from the bottom in the truck or did you remove the rear deck and top mount them? If you did remove the deck was it difficult? I keep reading things saying rear glass removal was necessary.

Any pics of your setup?

My Pioneer SX-580 from Christmas 1978 is still used as the radio in a lab where I used to work. I may have to visit for its upcoming 40th birthday! Their car audio division (HQ near Antwerp, Belgium) is still solid. Would not surprise me to find Pioneer DSP chips in our amplifiers (Bose included, they don't make their own chips).
