Well discussion so far here is correct, there isn't any such thing as a bad day at the track, just some better than others.
I only managed 1 pass with a soft launch, we had made the following changes to the car's suspension and I always make an easy pass to make sure the car is going to go straight:Carlyle Racing 15 rear brake conversion Weld Wheels with bead locks Mickey Thompson 275/60/15 ET Street Radial Pro Rear tires Mickey Thompson 26/6/18 Sportsman S/R Front tires Half Shafts and 1 piece CF driveshaft First off - the car looks fantastic, I was a little hesitant about the 26" fronts, but once they were on the car I was sold. Combined with the BMR lowering drag springs that were already on the car the stance is perfect! So... first pass is below. I left at idle and rolled the throttle to the floor in the period of about 1 second. Car rolled out nice and ran a touch faster ET than my previous best, but with 5 more MPH than ever before at the big end. This looked promising, tires seemed to hook great and car want straight as an arrow. Small tires (with that short rollout) caught me off guard and I relit, but I can fix that. My 60' on this pass was only a 1.81 and I normally run mid 1.5's so that's worth at least .3-.5 ET right off the bat. I also know I have some torque management still in the launch, if I remove some of that and load the car up on the converter at launch - maybe another .1 to .3 there??? Either way it's a low 10 -or- could it be possible to squeeze into the single digits? Either way I was excited, love going fast so lets do it! Well here's what happened: I had it up to about 1750RPM at the tree, released the brake and dropped it to the rug, tires hooked big time and made it all the way to 9mph before "BAM". I don't think there was a person in the stands that didn't hear that one... You can see from that data that it let go right at about 3000 RPM and 153 kPa of manifold pressure. I haven't yet removed enough TM to make the throttle immediately open full so there might be more torque available in the launch if needed. I do know it's the driveshaft but until it's up on a lift I won't know exactly what happened. Either way I'm looking to get it back up and running as soon as possible to get back to the track and see what it will run. So that ended my day with the Camaro, but I must admit it was great to spend the afternoon just hanging out and watching all the other cars run. Watched "GirlyNFG" drive her M6 procharged SS to a 10.85@129.3 - great pass Jessica! There was also had a "twin" white 6th gen A8 (see image below) sporting a Maggie and a couple other mods built by Alex at New Era Performance that ran a 10.44 @ 132MPH on his first pass. I'll update once I can get back to the track! |

Wow, thanks for the update Mike. I tried to keep people informed until you could get on and dial everybody in. That was gonna be a heck of a run. You still have the stock converter don't you? New era did a great job on the other car also. 10.44 is pretty stout number. I'm super stoked about getting my Maggie this week and since I'm already ahead with the Drag Pack and lowered, so I expect some good numbers on my first time out in March. I know you'll get it back together and pick up that impressive number we are all hoping to see.

Nicely documented.
I know the feeling of something going clunk and not reaching the 60'. ![]() Question: did you have a driveshaft saftey loop? Padre |

It was, got it up on the lift today and it failed the carbon fiber tube about 6'' from the transmission. I had originally though that maybe it would be a glue joint, but that was not the case. Not sure if we'll go with a replacement or maybe switch to aluminum.

Did you have a safety loop in there? That seems about where it would be. Maybe something rubbed? Last edited by crash0117; 12-06-2016 at 10:58 AM. |

I'd think the drive shaft shop would take care of that. Second run? Must have been a flaw in the fiber.

Been doing some catch up and saw this thread. 134MPH will be VERY close to a high 9 second pass I'm thinking. I've enjoyed the threads and been following the progress. Glad to see someone make incremental changes hit the track, post results, and do it all over again to show what works.

Sorry to hear about the mishap, I imagine a CF driveshaft is not cheap.

Frank over at The Drive Shaft Shop is great. I'm sure he'll take care of the issue, but I'd probably go back with an aluminum if it's an option when working that out.

Aw. I just saw this... Thanks for the props! My bf ran it later in the day and did a 10.85 @ 133.2. My 60 was 1.5, his 1.7. Hoping for a 1.4 and some amazing shifting soon. lol
I heard that break from the staging lanes btw... I am having torque management issues too. I should be able to stay close to your numbers... redlist 2017?

Redlist 2017 for sure! Can't wait to go and see everyone again!
Driveshaft arrived yesterday, hopefully have the Camaro running again soon but have been focused on my Z06 - it should be running tomorrow... |
