If you strictly care about racing, yes. But for a street car there's no comparison. Clicking paddles is no where near the same experience. It's all about your preference and what the car will be for. If OP is like me, mostly a weekend car on some backroads or going to a show, I'd say M6 is the way.

Also, at least in my opinion, the manual will be more sought after down the road. Even now people are like wow, that's a stick? The general public might like auto's because that's all they know, but most diehard enthusiasts of sports and muscle cars still like stick. It's not as dead as it seems.

Of all my cars, 98% have been stick but I have also lived in big cities in Calif, Atlanta, Miami where having a stick in rush hour SUCKS!!! 2 reasons I sold my 1ss M6, one was because my left leg was worn out from shifting and the the other was the satin black
rims were hell to clean. Would get brown crap on them that was hard to get off. Was becoming a hobby to clean the rims. Saw an automatic with chrome rims at a dealer
and traded in on the spot, solved both problems.

While trade in value and track times might be your only gauges of what makes a good car, the people who buy manuals would argue the car is simply more fun to drive and still faster than 99% of what’s on the road today, and if it drag races anything other than an exactly equipped 6th Gen with the A10 it will still win, and it won’t lose by much when it does. So the actual “slower” part is really a non-issue.

Also, from personal experience I’ve actually sold all my manual-equipped cars faster and for more money than I would have if they were automatics. One thing I’ve NEVER done is trade in a car. Of course you’re going to get ripped off. It’s a dealer. But when you know how and to whom to direct your advertising if the stick shift equipped car you have for sale, your customer base may be small but they definitely want your car. So in that reguard, I’d argue they’re worth MORE money.

Jt, I grew up in the 60s and 70s, sticks were all we knew back then. My first drag car was a 4 speed, as well as my second. Sticks are fun on the street, no doubt about that. I took my drivers test in 1968 with a stick so I believe I'm very familiar with manual transmissions. My last stick was a head and cam C6 with a 6 speed, put a set of drag radials on it and broke the trans, diff and torque tube. After 81 cars and trucks I'll stick to my A10s.

I think I have a handle on buying and selling cars now on my 81st, 8 boats, 5 motor cycles, 5 personal watercraft and 15 or so trailers including one enclosed trailer. I never intend to make money on a car although I did make 8k on my C7 I sold couple years ago. I buy what I like because I can, it's the joy of living in the USA, buy what you want if you can afford it. It may be true that some manuals may sell better in some areas, so buy a manual or buy a A10 and enjoy it.

I know the feeling on the left leg, stiff clutch pedal with city driving finally gets to you. Hope your left leg is better and chrome or polished wheels are show much less dirt. My black wheels always look dusty after I come back from a drive. My 22's on my Silverado are machined with clear coat. They never look dusty even though they are.

I drive 3 hours a day in rush hour. I guess my leg is thankful for the A10

I had popeye leg. Had a 4 speed 6 cyl car from the 70s and put a syntherized clutch. Took me a month to build muscle and broke the rocker for the clutch linkage many times.

I know I can take the M6 clutch but I don't know if it's worth it

Hey I totally get it my friend. You gotta drive what's right for you. I can tell just by reading your posts and sig that you're serious about the hobby.

I think we can all agree, if you settle for something (especially with a big purchase like a car), it will eat at you. Been there and done that. Unfortunately, in today's climate, it's hard not to settle because of how impossible it can be to find what you want.

Totally agree, drive what you like cause that makes you happy. I'm glad we have such great choices. I'm slowing down at 71 (closer to 72 then). One day I'm gonna give up the hobby. Build me another low rider truck, hoping that GM puts a 5.3 in the 2024 single cab short bed. Gonna Slam it, Magnuson SC and TooHighPsi Port Injection and just drive it for joy, not to race it. That's my plan now, seems like its getting hotter in our area evey year and this old body hates the heat, drag racing in 90 degree temps just doesn't do it for me anymore. Roll on with whatever you choose to drive and enjoy the ride cause life is shorter than you think.

I daily mine 20k miles a year and I no way want a automatic. My commute is a country drive but when I am in town I like way I can make noise with the manual.
