I just got a note from my neighbor last weekend saying my ZL1 is "excessively and unnecessarily loud". I thought that was pretty funny, as the car is bone stock. I told him there wasn't much I could do, other than what I already do (not taking it out early in the AM or late at night, going easy on the throttle leaving, etc.). Part of me wants to go out into the street behind his house and do a big smoky line-lock burnout, but I've restrained myself so far. Haha...

They would hate my Classic '69 then, cam and flowmasters = heaven to my ears.

Has anyone tried to run the car in "Stealth mode" and switch to "track mode" after passing the sound check area? Or in stealth mode the whole lap? I have yet to hear anyone say they ran in stealth (Not tour). I'm pretty certain the tour mode will still open at wide open throttle but probably close any other time. I'm pretty sure stealth holds the valves shut at all times which is why they warn against running in stealth mode at track.

Yeah, what's funny is this is the quietest "fun" car I've owned in years. I had a cammed/supercharged LS1 powered '67 Camaro, then a couple C6 Corvettes with headers. All of them were louder than this car. I had both of the Vettes during the time I've lived here, but not the '67. He would have loved that car.

I just need to decide if I'm going to go out of my way to appease him (start it in stealth mode, etc.), or say screw it and do as I please. I drive the car a few times a week, and never at odd hours like I mentioned. I honestly feel like he has no place to complain. Then again, I'm not a tree hugger with a Subaru wagon.

Unless you must track there and continuing to track there will result in being thrown out or banned, then I say don't mess with your car. If you have to track there, sounds like you're altering your cars exhaust for the worse.

If you get 3 meatballs you are done for the day. And each time you catch the meatball that session is over for you.

I haven’t yet. This place in fremont is highly recommended from a trusted friend for Laguna pipes though. $235 was his price.

Bunch a slack jaw sissies. First, it is sad that a race track has sound restrictions. Second, forget the neighbors; they're just jealous or snobs or both. You're probably interrupting their tea and classical music sessions. I vote for the smoky burn out.

I live in a decent hood but my neighbors love my cars, especially the loud obnoxious ones. MOVE!

Send the note back like this: "Thank you Sir, I didn't think my car was loud enough in its stock configuration. Why would I want a loud, brash car? Because 'Merica!"

Cars like this are love it or hate it. I have neighbors that have commented on how good it sounds. As I own my place, moving isn't much of an option. But there isn't anything he can do about my car as far as I know. There's an HOA, but I don't think they can do anything either. It's a stock car after all.

Nothing they can do unless you excessively rev it or do speed exhibitions. The car isn't that loud, I'm surprised they can hear it. Just crusty snobs.

I just ran my 2019 SS at Laguna Seca, and got the Meatball for running Tour mode. 92.8 db. WTF?! Switched to Stealth, and made it through the rest of the sessions. I still lifted a little when I went by the sound shack until the end of my last run. I figured it’s the end of my day anyway, but no meatball. It was a clear day when I got flagged, but the wind may have carried sound towards the meter. I’m looking at this thread trying to find a Laguna pipe solution because Stealth mode doesn’t give the sound feedback preferable for keeping the engine “on the pipe” as the saying goes. Yeah, the tach helps, but sound is better.

I got half way through & was thinking someone needs a big burnout in front of their house, then I got to where you said just that.
