While a centri head unit would be out in front of the engine, it is still much lighter than a PD supercharger. Everyone who I know who has a PD S/C, specifically Maggie, has had heat soak issues (one of them last time we talked was thinking of switching over to a centri). So with the PD you will have both weight and cooling issues. Remember, the 1LE was not designed for the cooling of a S/C like a ZL1. Most people like the instant torque, but you can spin out also. The centri comes on gradually and just keeps on giving you power. Since most of your racing is from a roll, you should be able to down shift to get to the necessary rpm range.
Keep in mind, you will be investing $10,000 in a car which will then have a lesser resale value, and a voided warranty. |

About your last comment, you are right and many people locally have told me the same... i really regret not being able to wait 4 extra months and just get the zl1 but whatever, whats done is done i have 1le now and not willing to loose so much money on such a short period of time. Many people recommended me to just go fbo all motor and it true to what it was built for... 500hp on a n/a they say it still will be very fast, fun and no weight penalty... but i dont know... 1st word problems (should i settle for 500 n/a or 600hp FI)

The part in bold is true for any build and or mod to a vehicle. It always depends on how hard the end user is going to beat on the vehicle, forged pistons or hyper pistons. Remember, in the end GM had to build the LT4 for the masses of people, some of those people take care of their cars and some dont. Most will run the right fuel and respect the car, some out there will run 87 and go beat on the car. S/C 650hp with hyper pistons in that kind of customer base dont mix well, so forged pistons are the answer. People have been putting a S/C on hyper piston engines since before the LSx series engines. Sure they have been some failures, but there are plenty out there with miles on them and still going. My 1LE is more than likely getting a Whipple next year, I am not after the "most HP possible" end goal. I am just after a nice bump without tearing into the engine with reliable power. I am just after a fun street car that puts a grin on my face each time I get into it. |
