Loss of power with bolt ons

Car down on power with katech ported throttle body, ported intake manifold and a GM CAI???? Had the car tuned for e85. Base pull with said mods created a super rich issue that resulted in a 10-15whp loss from what a bone stock lt1 puts down on average. (A8). After it was said and done the car put down similar if not identical numbers to what a bone stock lt1 would put down with just an e85 tune. Also the Tuner ran into an issue with the GM CAI. He made it work but suggest the stock intake box would be a better setup. My question is why is the current setup hurting the power/gains on the Car? I wish I had a better understanding of how or what could be affecting the car cars performance.

Do you have baseline numbers or are you going off the butt-dyno?

Could be timing pull from crap e85. Have you data-logged and discussed with your tuner?

I just got it tuned last week. Car put down 374whp on the base pull. He did have cut the run a bit early from the car breaking up up top. Final numbers where 419whp on e85. Haven't data logged it. I will be going back this Friday so I can put the stock intake back on and he can see what's going on. I also believe he said he had to change some values due to the GM CAI throwing off the maf readings thus creating sloppy/abnormal shifting. That's why he recommended putting the stock intake back in order to change said values back to stock

Someone really needs to test the GM intake, with or without the GM tune. a ported intake manifold or a throttle body will most likely not mess with the MAF.

I know it's the same intake as the CAI though.

Exactly.

And not all cars put down the same numbers stock. My only did 376rw stock on a dyno I have seen most stockers go 390rw+. Get the stock CAI back on and see what happens. Also, if it is breaking up up top then something else is going on.

The tuner is legit. One of the best on the West Coast. Something weird is going on.

Pray without a tune I think the GM intake is pulling timing too perhaps?

His Mustang load dyno generally reads lower than most shops as well.

Silly question, but have you checked the TB bolts to make sure there's no leak?

There is no question the GM CAI is not sealed as well as stock or the Rotofab. That gap where it meets the fender brace is not good in my opinion.

It is really hard to tell what is going on from where I ma sitting. I have full confidence in Ryne and his skills. If he said something wonky was going on then I believe him.

On the street, I have seen one GS close the TB blade at about 5K with a ported IM/TB due to exceeding the tq tables. I have seen it on the Gen 5's as well but only twice now. Once I get my hands on the GS for a tune I will figure out what's going on.
