The Corvette fuel door locks when you lock the doors. It appears the Camaro door assembly is similar even though it's on the other side, yet does not lock.

This and the moonroof one touch close issue needs to be answered for by GM.

I'm looking for the inner locking system too, but I don't know where to get this one

Good info. I didn't realize the 6th gens outside the US got the locking mechanism.

I wonder how hard & expensive it would be to procure all the necessary parts to get it to to work on the US cars? I'd be interested in doing this if the parts were reasonably priced.

It shouldn't be a big issue. As far as I know it is just a small electric/magnetic motor which operate the pin.

That's funny, a bunch of people, including myself when I had my c7, disabled the lock by blocking the pin or pulling the whole thing. There was no manual release, so if it got stuck at a gas station with it locked, it was a pain in the ass to get open.

I'm ok without a lock on the Camaro.

Why on earth are you or anyone afraid of getting stuck at a gas station with it locked?

Because if it's stuck in the locked position you have to try to remove the door which is a dicey proposition because the odds of some sort of damage happening are high.

What is the probability of this failure at a gas station? Damned near so small that you can't measure it.

If your luck is that bad then you're just perpetually screwed and it really won't matter if you have a lock or not. Might as well go back to debating how many angels can dance on the head of a pin...

It's not a isolated case, check the corvetteforum. Lots and lots of people have had their fuel door jammed in closed position. Form the pictures the components look the same so I'm holding my breath every time I go for a fill-up

However the vette is locking shut due to their locking mechanism going south, the camaro has no mechanism to mess up.
