I thought I would start this thread as a common point for those of us that are waiting for Chevy to release the BCM update for the 1LE (FE4) kit for our 2016s.

If anyone hears that the update is now available, post it here. Right now my efforts to make contact on this update hasn't been successful. Keep making the calls all and bugging them.

BTW, I'm talking about this kit:

"I have a 2016 Camaro SS with Mag. Ride Control. I'm wanting to install your Gen6 1LE suspension upgrade, part number 84233245. My understanding is that the software that is included in the kit is not able to be installed on the 2016 Camaros. Is there any word on when this this issue will resolved?"

I strongly recommend that if you have a desire to install this kit on a 2016, send them an email. The more requests they get, the more likely they will dive into this issue.

PLEASE do not just cut and paste what I sent them!! Change it up so there are truly multiple requests from all over.

Any other points of contacts we can talk to other than this email address?
Anybody have some inside point of contact?

I tried calling the person at Chevy who's been working this issue for me. The number has been disconnected.
I was assured by Chevy Customer Service and Chevy Engineering the new software would be released in July.

Guess what? It's July. I've expereinced no adverse affects of having the 1LE suspension since I had it installed about six weeks ago. Car works awesome and has better handling characteristics. That said, I still want the software upgrade to complete the kit install. That is part of the deal I paid $1,500.

Thanks for the feedback archer. As you know, I plan to move forward with this kit regardless of the software update, particularly since I have the extra weight of the FI up front.

But Like you, I still want the software update. My question is, if Chevy does provide the update, how would we know out there since you lost your point of contact?

Received a call from Chevy Customer Service, a young man named Christian (866-790-5700 ext. 591-5029). He proceeded to tell me there is not date for the software fix, and that since these parts weren't part of the car in it's stock form, Chevy is not responsible for this kit even though they sell it. Feel free to call him early and often and provide him your opinion of his customer service skilz.

That's it for me. I'm getting my money back from the dealership for this kit due to it being incomplete.
Good luck with your install. Hopefully you don't have any problems with it because it sounds like the warranty won't hold up in Chevy court.

At this point I'm going to install a DSC controller and see how that works out first. It look like a much better approach than the Chevy BCM upgrade anyway.

I haven't installed my kit yet. I may sell it off or add it on later on, depending on the results from the controller upgrade. A third option is to go in-between and just add on the sway bars for now and see how they work and if I really need the springs. But I still think the springs would be a benefit, given the extra weight of the supercharger up front.

This is total bullshit on Chevys part, in my opinion. Tell people

The DSC Controller will make the FE4 tune unnecessary Install the 1LE parts and have some fun!

At first, Chevy released the kit with no model year constraints. After finding out the BCM re-coding didn't work on the 2016 BCM, they then re-marked the suspension kit description for only for '17-'18 model years instead of fixing the coding problem.

You have to be careful in that some of the wholesale sites still list the kit OK for all years; not true.

Still waffling on selling off my 1LE kit or not. Need to the DSC controller in first and judge from there.

How does the BMR kit compare to the 1LE kit? Thought I read they'd release a program in July for the 16, but guess they decided against it.

BMR doesn't put out a kit, per say, but they will guide you on what to select if you call them. So it's hard to compare. If you're going to the strip, go with BMR. If it's a daily driver like mine, the 1LE kit is a know entity and has a high front spring rate, which I want due to the extra weight of the supercharger up front.

There is no one is better than other between the two. Both great choices.



As for the BCM re-program, you read correctly.
