I was involved in an accident and the shop says my engine harness was cut. The prt number is 84029806, however they have discontinued this part. The shop says the insurance might total the vehicle out if a harness is not found. The car was a week old and i made the mistake of putting a substantial amount of money down on a lease and dont want to lose that and if i do i know i wont get into another SS or 1LE. Really trying to save the car from being killed as the damage isnt anything close to totaling it out. If anybody can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it

I'm sure there is another part number. They can't just stop making a part on a brand new car. GM is notorious for changing part numbers.

I don't understand how a part for a NEW vehicle can't be ordered or replaced. Isn't GM suppose to have parts available for like 10 years?

The part number for 16 and 17 are different and also it depends if you have mag ride or not. Man i wish i can get al o in here

Try calling trunk monkey, they are part of Suburban Chevrolet up in Washington, they run trunk monkey as an oem parts house. They might be able to help you out.

Absolutely impossible that any part for any 2016-17 Camaro is discontinued. By law companies, not just car companies but bicycles, appliances, garage door openers, must produce all original parts for 7 years after that specific model has been discontinued.

What most likely has happened is GM has changed the part number of your harness. This should be a non issue because your shop should have just contacted GM or another dealer and gotten the new part number. Your shop probably has last year's parts reference guide and didn't upgrade the latest version so they don't have all the new part numbers. They try ordering it and it comes back no longer available.

Either way there's zero possibility under the law that GM discontinued production of your harness.

Since this is a production year part, and the nature of the part, it is on restriction. Fire, crash, theft situation's only. Are you at a GM dealership getting the repair done? I hope so. The dealer can escalate the operation to get this part pulled. If you are at an independent shop, Im not sure what you are going to do. If anything. Waiting to hear more information on my end. They actually are in Sandy Oregon. About 6 miles from my house. Part of Suburban Chevrolet
