I expect you to get your car a lot sooner, so I'll be living vicariously through you -- post pics! . Our VINs are pretty close so they are practically brothers...

I was expecting them to be close on the assembly line since we shared a lot of the same options and ordered only a couple days apart. I will be sure to do so!

Alright, I think I found me a new obsession. This might lower my productivity for the next few weeks. Ha!
Edit: OnStar is kinda neat, though I suppose it's mostly a novelty. I can see that the tires are all inflated to 37 psi except the front right, which is 39, and that it's recommended to be 32. I can tell it has about 3 gallons of fuel in it, which is good for 66 miles. 100% oil life. It's only gotten 3.0 mpg so far, and there are 2 miles on the odometer. The geek in me is pleased. LMAO you have the OnStar going. Yeah I've lost all productivity when yours moves let me know!
Hopefully mine ships out early next week. The sooner the better!

I wonder how hard your car was driven in those two miles. I've heard of guys that move them around for shipping don't give a f*ck. I'm 8/7 TPW and worry about someone abusing the car especially since it's not warmed up first.

You're telling me. My dealership told me "they have to do the pre-delivery inspection" I'd prefer they don't touch it and roll it inside. I sent them my strict break in procedure for the first start-up and drive.

Well, I cannot control how it gets driven during this process, so I choose not to get too wound up about it
. The only real damage they can do is to give it a lot of RPM while cold, but IMO it would take some effort in 80 degree weather with modern synthetic oil to do any significant harm that way. I actually worry more about them hitting something and doing repair work on the body without me knowing it happened.I also subscribe to a theory that I don't think too many other folks here share: The correct way to break in a car is to let it idle until the oil is completely warm, and then drive it out of the dealer's lot and up the street sideways for as long as you can maintain the drift. Then through lots of stops and full throttle banzai runs for 20 minutes or so. And then change the oil and call it good. If the engine can't survive that then it was going to fail anyway.

I was talking to a mechanic at Ford and he was bragging about how they were ragging out the focus RS 's they got.

I haven't told my dealer not to prep the car, but I will say this -- if it has more than about six miles on the odometer I'm going to be ... annoyed. I'd also think that it depends a lot on the dealer. How much do you want to bet that Becky is on top of the deliveries at Rodgers and that the guys doing the prep work know better than to mess with her?

I'll mention that I'd like to receive it with under 6 miles

Didn't intend to worry anyone but yesterday I read someones comment to a question about hurting their engine during break in. This was the response, "Subaru says the same shit but guess what. When guys drive it off the dock, we literally redline the shit out of it for a 4 km stretch till the rendezvous point for pick up. So the answer is no because somewhere someplace in transport, someone already bagged the living shit out of it. Here is the link.
