Waze over Android Auto - Post your best tips and tricks
This thread is an attempt to gather up as much USEFUL info on how to use Waze in our Camaros. I am no authority, by any means, just the thread starter, so I do not have a lot of info to contribute just yet.
I expect that we will eventually cover things like: How to spot police activity and report same How to spot road closures or construction, and report same Re-routing for bad traffic or accidents Things others have pointed out to me (here for install info: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...hp?p=9802496): Beta version 4.24.0.113 was the version I had to use, in order to get the Waze maps to show on the car infotainment screen.

You can report police and road hazards from the infotainment screen.

That is a good point. To clarify, it is no longer necessary to grab a beta version in order for Android Auto to show the Waze screen on the car infotainment screen. The latest Waze release (4.27.0.1) now allows Waze to show on the car screen.

This new version we are mentioning is for Android. There is an Apple version of Waze that you can grab here: https://www.waze.com/ For it to work in your car, I believe (but do not know for sure) you would need the Apple Car Play software in the car as opposed to Android Auto.

I have the latest version of waze on my phone. So if I'm reading all of this correctly I should be able to turn on my Android auto and it will connect to Waze without having to use my phone only?

Not via bluetooth; you need to plug it in to the car with a USB cord.

What I am saying is that BT is not used for the Waze screen mirroring. The Waze screen mirroring requires a real wire connection. In order for the Waze screen mirroring to work, you need to plug the phone into a USB port. I use the one in my center console. This has the added benefit of charging the phone.
