GMPP LT1 Crate Engine Tune

So I found a GMPP Crate Engine Tune on the hp tuners repository. I kind of looked over it and noticed most of the stuff is the same maybe a little more timing in some areas and a little less in some others.

Anyway, then I read this article: http://www.enginelabs.com/news/danzi...ngine-and-wow/

So its got me looking at the tune more, and there is a lot of stuff different especially in how it calculates dynamic airflow and adds a few degrees of cam retard at high rpms.

Has anyone else tried this tune, I would like to do a full flash on this tune too make sure I account for all the tables as well as any other tables as well, but I'm kind of scared to mess something up.

I kind of don't believe the article, but supposedly it made 531/525 peak, that was through a set of dyno headers. What wasn't real clear is if the 531/525 was made after their in shop tuning, or that was with the GMPP crate engine tune?

It was a crate engine on his dyno;

Chris Muzio at Danzio Performance Engineering recently bolted the dry-sump version (PN 19329997 available at Pace Performance) of the LT1 crate engine to his dyno. Running on premium pump gas and through a set of dyno headers, the engine baselined at 531 horsepower with 525 lb-ft peak torque.

Two big advantages 1) Full Headers and; 2) a Dry Sump that led to the increases.

The article lists the ECU the shop used, a Life Racing F88. Between the standalone ECU with 8 O2 sensors, velocity stack at the throttle body, headers, and no accessories driven, it's no surprise at all the engine made way more than the SAE numbers.

Based on the picture the engine isn't even turning its own water pump. IMO the 531 HP number is akin to the old school "gross HP" measurement.

Just FYI, that ECU is north of $4k!

Yeah it all adds up. I've been trying to make sense of all the GM calibrations, but from my testing any gains had in timing seem to be less that the noise and error you get in trying to test it.

Does anyone have a copy of the HO LT1 crate engine? The one with the cam.
